Hate to hear that about the Calhoun QB. Praying he heals up ok and able to play a few games his senior year. His football season is over. Hoping he can recover for baseball.

Well the news doesn't get any better because what hasn't been mentioned yet is I'm hearing you were outplayed and outscored by Ingleside at last weeks scrimmage. I know scrimmages don't mean much but still. Calhoun isn't picked to go on any big run or anything. Playoffs and a round 2 win would be a good season. Just Keeping it real. ccwarcat. Take Note. Ingleside plays Miller tonight so we'll see. Maybe Ingleside turns out to be legit for all we know.

Calhoun has a lot of new faces this year and not a lot of returning starters I am with Hound I will be happy if they make the playoffs and go a few rounds will see. As far as the scrimmage against Ingleside it went about as expected with new QB and young players they started rusty then got things going after that.
Sandcrabs fare well in scrimmage:
As with any first time going against an opposing team after weeks of butting heads with teammates, the Sandcrabs came out of the gates slowly before finding their strides later in the scrimmage.
Jayce Campos was leading the team under center for the first-team offense.
Ingleside had the advantage of having a roster that features 15 of 22 returning starters, Whitaker added.
“We had trouble sustaining drives offensively early on,” Whitaker said. “Frist drive, we drove all the way down inside the 20, then suffered four straight plays that lost yardage. Blown assignments and all. Our quarterback lost his shoe on third down and lost his footing. On the second drive, we had a bad pitch that cost us. We can’t have turnovers and negative plays. We need to make our living on four and five yard plays, stay in front of the chains. So that part was frustrating.”
Calhoun buckled down later and put together a pair of long scoring drives, each capped by Alek Luna touchdowns.
“We got things together and had a beautiful drive,” Whitaker said. “Offensive line was coming off the ball, Jayce made some great reads; we walked the football right down the field and scored a touchdown. Overall, I’m very pleased.”
The subsequent Ingleside drive was stopped when the Sandcrab defense forced a turnover to give the ball back to the CHS offense.
That drive resulted in another Sandcrab TD.
“So we had the ball twice in that quarter and found the end zone twice,” Whitaker said. “We looked like Calhoun football. Maybe we got some things ironed out. Our kids settled in and started playing good football.”
Defensively, the outcome was similar: the Sandcrabs had some kinks and lineups to work through before hitting their strides.
Whitaker pointed out that the staff doesn’t gameplan for scrimmages how they would approach games. Very little scouting goes into play, as the team has dimensions of their own team that they want to work on, as opposed to worrying about the personnel of the team they line up against.
“This is a practice,” Whitaker reminded. “So we’re not up here watching four or five game films, charting tendencies and whatever. Well, Ingleside hit us with a couple things that we maybe weren’t ready for and took advantage of the personnel we had in there for a little bit. But just like the offense, we got it together and started playing a lot better.”
Whitaker added that the Sandcrabs JV and freshmen teams both played well and gave great effort during the scrimmage.
“We got a lot of new film for our varsity to look at and got some good coaching points to go over with the kids on Saturday,” Whitaker said.

Home cooking. This article makes it seem like Calhoun dominated a scrimmage that they actually lost. I'm not trolling I'm just pointing that out because the article makes it seem like my initial comment was full of chit lol.

It's obvious Coach doesn't care what the score was. Calhoun was just looking for some answers while "Practice" scrimmaging against another team.

I understand what you're saying and what the coach is saying. But I guess it's just that scrimmage or not we all expect domination from Calhoun over an opponent like Ingleside.

Ingleside reminds me of Victoria East and West. They can be really good or bad. Very inconsistent from 1 year to the next.

Ingleside is #20 in the 4AD2 Rankings. Calhouns Non District schedule is full of Ranked teams. With the exception of Randle. A 5A D2 New School that is playing its first year of UIL Football. Calhoun should be ready for district play regardless of their record.

I was told that 3a Hallettsville held their own with PLC in scrimmage yesterday. Friend said that Hallettsville D held PLC offense in check even being outsized significantly up front.

They did great at first. They held Calhoun to a 0-0 tie for the 1s , then later gave up 3 TDs when the 1s came back in, before I left . Which was about 8:30. I don't know what happened after that.

Wait, so 1s on 1s PLC was 3-0? From what I saw it was a tie at 0 the first time the 1s went out ....when the 2s came out Hallestville scored once ... the 1s came out again Hallettsville didn't score and Calhoun scored twice and scored again when I was walking out of the stadium ....

I saw a comment say 5-1 Miller but I have no idea if that was all of it or only the 1st team points. If they played a shortened 2nd scrimmage like Alice and Ray did that could be the total. I don't know though.
