I watched them at a very young age in 1970 win State. Watched a couple of games in 82 but not the title game when they won state. I think it's hard for them to come up with a good early game.........that's unless they go for someone down the road in 3A? The question is not who wins but would Refugio get a good game and stay healthy playing up in 3A? I've never like seeing a coach run up a score like he's done the last two weeks. Carma is a biotch and it has a way of coming back to bite you. With all that said.........it still looks like their year.

No doubt about it, they look to have the team to do it and I completely agree that he'd better his team by playing some legit 3a contenders in non-district ball games! But, there are some very good 2a teams outside of R4 as well as a couple in R4 that are pretty dang good as well.

EB beat Schulenburg this past week.....I wasn't expecting that! Isn't EB where that stud RB is at??? As for Poth, they are playing very good football and may also be able to 'slow up Refugio', but I cannot see them beating them this year. EB has a stud QB is all I know of the real stud qb is schulenburg's, but he's a little banged up after this weekend.

Rogers nearly lost to a 1a team a few weeks ago. regardless, they'd still hit refugio in the mouth more than a few times.

Some players talking on camera on Ch 6. I don't think the coach should have let them do that.......watch and see what you think?

Lame excuses..... So is he saying that every single playoff team they face will push his team to hard? If so schedule harder non district.... I mean cal, plc, bluff, GP all take jv with them on playoff games and play them when they feel as though they have a comfortable lead.... So their teams don't play a full game some times til late in the playoffs..... I don't see them complaining about it hurting their chances to win.... Of course those teams also usually schedule playoff caliber 5a and 4a schools to play before district.... I've coached on good teams and bad, and I've coached against and with class act coaches and with and against classless coaches.... The class act coaches do not run up scores and allow their younger players to gain game situation experience while working on fundamentals. For instance running full back dive every play because it moves the chains and eats up clock. Other sports they approach it differently and I have the upmost respect for a certain GP coach on here because he is a total class act and I always enjoyed playing his teams because it made my teams better. Refugio has no class end of story

Refugio has no class end of story Herring implied that they'd have 4 state titles if they weren't worn out in the 4th quarter. What a joke.... Don't get me wrong, though. I couldn't care less if they scored 100+. I'd never ask a coach apologize for having a good team.

There is one reason and one reason only for Refugio to be acting they way they are - saying they can take on and beat 4A teams like Calallen and Flour Bluff - its a family that moved there - a true cancer.

They have lots of skill people that might hurt you some, but they'd be demolished in the trenches by even decent 4A and 5A schools; and probably many 3As.

That last name sure did sound and look familiar... What happened Refugio offer them the king ranch edition truck and a ranch to put it on? Anyway, at a 2A school you're going to shine more if you have even average talent compared to at a good 4a/5a school that has 50-100 average kids and 10-20 good kids and 5-10 great athletic kids.... Thus why many stand out kids in the lower classifications aren't playing d1 college ball much less d2... I think several of the coastal bend 4a and 5a schools would beat Refugio not just with talent but the sheer number of kids they can sub in and out with and create mismatches with, a select few 3a schools could do it too.

Refugio would get shut out by most of the 4A schools down here. Hell, some of the JV's would probably keep it close against them. They have the equivalent of little man's disease only it is little school disease. They are real cute though in that little district they play in.
