The top 2 spots are pretty much locked in with Aledo and Timberview but the final 2 playoff spots are up for grabs. The 4 teams that will be in the mix are Burleson, Arlington Seguin, Everman, and Cleburne. Historically speaking Everman wins a playoff spot but who knows this year. Burleson was in a great spot last year but could not win the games they need to in order to make the playoffs. Arlington Seguin won the last playoff spot last season but had to forfeit the playoff game due to covid. Seguin had a good team and depending on how many they return I think they are playoff bound again. Cleburne will be competitive with most of the teams in district but I think they are on the outside looking in. This is the team that will want to play spoiler week to week.
District prediction:
Playoff lock: Aledo Timberview
Tournament bound: Everman Seguin
Just missed: Burleson Cleburne
Needs work: University Joshua

I think that it is somewhat of a generous preseason pick. Until the Elks can ever definitively get out of their own way and clean up the inconsistent play with consistent they will continue to struggle with street credibility. Most Elk fans know it too. Once again I think that we could get an early tell, tell sign based upon how their game goes with DI #25 Centennial. They were right there last year but couldn't stop Cent10 on their last drive. Could see a very similar situation with the siblings again this time around.

I guess they like yalls QB and coaching. Not sure how many yall return but I bet that plays a part in it.

Probably not enough to excite anybody.

At the end of the day being in the playoff hunt and being competitive is a good spot for any program.

Along with Cent10 our other two non-district games should give us plenty of early indication with Abilene Wylie and Azle. Both of those games should give the Elks plenty of either promise or concerns going in to district.

What would you consider a successful season for the 2nd year coach? Well, let's first start off with winning seasons. I can remember a time when the Elks struggled with that. Anybody would agree that 6-4 seasons are not setting anybody's world on fire however, there have been 6-4 regular season performers who went on to become state champs. As you and everybody knows winning especially in Texas, encompasses many different things. In other words there is a lot that goes in to it. I think that if the Elks actually lived up to the magazine's pre-season billing and finished 3rd behind you guys and T-View with their loaded talent it would have to be considered pretty successful. But even if we can land the 4th spot and get back in to the dance I guess I would have to say that would be a success as well. Really, outside of the game with ya'll last year we were very much in the games where the other 3 losses came but just didn't have enough to finish the good opponents off. I think it's just as simple as this. How did the program improve through the off-season to get over these humps? The Elks return some talented players but do they have enough of them? I really don't have any answers for that right now.

I recall that crazy season for Aledo. Just another example of how yall's program has gotten it done in different ways. It's true success can be measured in many different forms. Prime example the 90's Buffalo Bills. Never won a Super Bowl but had a lot of record setting success along the way. Yall have been like those 90's Cowboys teams that the Bills went up against in the sense that they were good enough to be champs but there was somebody just a skoosh better standing in the way. Yall have certainly beaten a lot of worthy opponents along the way.

Certainly not use to that.

The teams that are usually tough for the Elks will still be. I feel that the district this year as a whole team for team, is improved. That’s a good thing. The Elks are wise to just take it week by week and stay healthy. We’ll see what happens at the end of it all.
