The true test will be how good of a job the O Line does. If this unit is strong they will properly have a good year. What about the defense? Defense has been the weak point the last couple of years.

In all seriousness I hope G-P gets back to 1994'ish form. I F with G-P people in here because this forum has become semi-less exciting than it use to be... except in the G-P threads lol. I don't see it happening this year. Unless you secretly have a HUGE line because the skill positions looked below average in 7 on 7. I wouldn't doubt it if Davis sticks to the Wing-t at G-P until he has developed the talent to run the Spread. That's kind of how he did it in Alice. My opinion, most schools should be a base running type offense. Then if you have a QB that can throw it, open things up. Most schools around here are lucky to have one good throwing QB, much less a back-up. If you build your whole O around a Star QB but do t have one for whatever reason, you are going to be hurting. I believe you are dead on right. RBs & linemen I believe are much easier to develop than a top notch QB is for sure and easier to have at least some quality sitting behind the #1 if he goes down. This is one of the very reasons I think teams like Katy have been so successful the past 20+ years. They will run it right at you and once they have you on your heals and leaning forward, they hit you over the top and burn you for a deep ball. You can take an average QB and he can look like an all-state QB in an offense that can run it right at you first. You cannot do that with an average QB in a pass first offense.

Chino he has the talent. I can name players that Coach Rhoades had that had the talent to make the playoffs. One was Austen Ochoa and Coach Jason Herring was a better coach. I had privy to inside info at GP back when Coach Anastacio came in and she did not know I was a Coach Anastacio supporter. I found out how United the teachers were toward a outsider. Coach Anastacio was treated as a outsider even though he was a retread. I have a idea his sons had to listen to other students in school that made his sons a bit uncomfortable. His wife had to put up with it. I got a ear-full from a GP fan blaming the coaching at GP on Coach Anastacio in about the 3rd game he was HC. His staff was all Coach Harris holdovers such as Coach David McKinney his DC and Coach Arguiho his OC. Coach Anastacio canβt tell his side of the story because it is a mistake to burn your bridges when you leave a coaching job to go to another. Stop it. Ochoa won at Refugio because it's Refugio and they are good and play a weak schedule for about 12 weeks. Rhoades won state titles. Every time you guys try and crap on him you look Stupid with a capital S. You did NOT have the talent the last 5 years. Your boy Anastacio left Rhoades a bare cupboard and he knew it and that's why Anastacio took the easy way out and left. Anastacio couldn't develop talent and that's why there was none for Rhoades. Anastacio won with Harris' holdover talent.

Anastacio won with Harris' holdover talent. Wrong. Last years team was super talented when they were young (youth football). The lack of a program pushed kids to play other sports and not pursue football (including my son). I know tons of kids that moved away and got D-1 scholarships at Calallen Sinton and Refugio that originally went thru GP JR. High. So in my oppinion when you dont care to uphold traditions and respect the teams of the past kids parents and alumni all notice and the down fall starts. Last two years was horrid. The new Super has changed alot and taken the handcuffs off of the new AD. Hopefully he can revamp GP and be succesfull in the years to come. Dicipline is a start!

He would have been a middle of the road QB at that level.....that's why he is playing baseball now and not football.

Stop it already How many of those tons of kids are playing college football? 1 I would bet and it is the lineman from Calallen. If you think the QB at Refugio would have been some kind of program saver at GP...........he wasn't that good!

Dicipline is a start! lmao everyone is talented when they are young. Alice has youth football teams nationally ranked some years. So what? High school is different. You didn't have talent to beat the teams you lost to the last 5 years and you still aren't this year. Maybe the future will be better. Rhoades did nothing wrong. These are all excuses for being bad. Rhoades about to win more state titles at Yoe.

Every time I want to change my tune and start showing G-P love the ridiculous comments and excuses come out and change my mind. Rhoades is a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING coach. You didn't have the talent.

The softer program increased players out for football everybody gets a trophy and more pictures to grandma but does not win ball games against same talent teams. Austen Ochoa and Marlon Crockett bailed out for a winning program. Coach Rhoades followed Coach George Harris lead that bought Coach George Harris 10 years of beating average teams. Coach Harris had 2 freshman teams and 1 sophomore team and 1 JV and 1 Varsity and had over 300 players out for football on all the teams and had one female on a team. GP bought a pig in a poke.
2017/2018 Roster 45 players
Taylor Mccormick Seth Garcia JR Jorge Prado JR Ruben Camacho JR Christian Bentler JR Charles Gonzalez SR Jalen Brooks SR Joe Sauceda SO 2 years left 150 yds vs Calallen Austin Ochoa SO 2 years left Sean Nicosia JR Brandon Garza SR Gabriel Quinones SR Jude Wiggins SO 2 years left Brenden Landgraf SR Absar Ali SR Jose Estrada SR Mark Munoz 311 Lbs Martin Gutierrez SR Kyle Zipprian JR 1 year left Alex Trujillo SO Gilbert Hernandez SR Mitch Mcgarry JR 6 ft.3IN 175 Lbs Mark Flores SR Esai Gonzales JR Mathew Mireles Tylor Guzman SR Austin Aguirre SR Luke Perales SR Andrew Felan SR Samuel Guzman SR Logan Berger SR Jeremy Horner SR Tyler Gassaway JR Logan Suggs JR Yedidah Adusei SR Ross Delgado SR Edelmiro Reyna SR Troy Eubanks JR Sebastian Alfaro SR RJ Cruz SR Sebastian Opal SR Victor Mendez SR Sincere Chandler SR Jacob Schnurpel SR 2018/2019 Roster 74 Players
