From Corpus Christi ISD: " Due to the continued increase in COVID-19 in our area, all CCISD SSC/SSI programs will postpone the July 13 start date. We will continue to monitor the local and statewide environments, and will make an announcement when it is safe to resume training." #txhsfb @callersports
CCISD has just announced it will not resume summer strength and conditioning on July 13. @callersports #txhsfb

Well, the Nueces County ME requested a morgue trailer be ordered ASAP! It’s not an urgent need. It’s to be prepared if it’s needed. It’s mainly because people are still dying from other issues outside of covid like usual and the increase in covid related deaths “might” put a strain on them. It’s a proactive move but not an urgent need. And I heard this from a close friend who works directly with the ME. No, not yet. But if the numbers don't start coming down soon these mobile morgues will be needed. It looks like Nueces Cnty reported nearly 450 new cases yesterday alone and Bexar County almost 750. These are not good numbers and let's all hope and pray they start declining soon....very soon!

My brother tested positive still after the 14 days but so far only gets a fever some days so he still not able to go to work. Lives in Houston. My Aunt in Austin had been getting worse with pneumonia in both lungs yesterday and waited all day til a bed was available. Today she's doing better she was release home for quarantine. Praying both recover fully. I miss sports but starting to realize this virus is not going away anytime soon.

Flour Bluff Athletic Director Chris Steinbruck says the Hornets will resume their workouts Monday, July 13th, but back in "Phase I" for them.
So varsity athletes only for the fall sports. Swimming and diving is allowing some of the underclassmen.
Says workouts are voluntary.
Steinbruck also says there will be no one-on-one workout drills for Flour Bluff which @uiltexas had allowed in its latest guidelines.
He says it'll strictly be the weightlifting and drills they had previously been doing before the initial suspension of the workouts. @kiii3sports

BREAKING The UIL has issued guidance through the RMA portal that students enrolled in remote learning are ELIGIBLE for extra-curricular activities provided they meet all UIL eligibility requirements #txhsfb
Schools may develop local policies w/additional requirements for participation.

So now Laredo and El Paso local governments have banned extra-curricular activities until early Sept....that means neither could play a game until October most likely... #txhsfb

How do you play if even 1 or 2 kids are infected? 2021 appears to be the next time we'll see HS football around here. The virus won't suddenly disappear in the next couple of months.

There is less chance they will get Corona out in the sunshine and open air than if they are hanging out with friends in a car and twiddling thumbs on that little 8 inch screen. Play Ball.

I would love for them to play ball. How do you handle a kid that does come up positive? Who gets quarantined? The whole team? What about fans at games? 50% attendance? 25%? Parents and family only? Band? Cheerleaders? Trainers? Will there be enough referees? Lots of questions and few answers.
