The majority of 4a and below schools are small towns with much less COVID impact, you can look at the stats. So when a few thousand people sit in the stands to watch these games, what about that risk? It may have LESS impact in a small town but it just takes one or two to swamp a small town. UIL mandated 50% max capacity. All attendees that are not actively playing on the field have to wear a mask. So all of you non-mask wearers cannot attend. The UIL took your freedom away.

Not this “small town”. Covid is very active. No one listened!! When the government needs to tell you what right and what’s wrong, then we are in trouble. That is exactly what happened. I didn't say ALL, I said the majority. Apparently the state and UIL see it this way. And where did i say you said “all”? I simply “no this small town”. Sounds to me you just want to argue?

OK, STOP THE POLITICS!! We the MODS have given both sides a long leash until now! Hey, I don’t like what’s going on these days, but I’m sick and tire of all the DAMN BICKERING! No matter what side you’re on, we all need to take a step back! If you continue these rants on any of the threads except for “The Jungle” you’ll be given a time out!!

Having live feed will help with capacity issues along with a cool and damp fall into winter. Let's hope by then maybe this thing is somewhat under control.

I think I made a quote”Don’t worry about the mule going blind, just load the wagon”. Well the whiners in 5A should be happy. Their student ain’t going to school in Aug/Sept and athlete ain’t going to play ball till it snows. Me and Johnnys is going to watch Rockport/Sinton play ball and then I can catch GP. Wfcoyote, if we are fortunate enough to be able to play and the creek don’t rise, I will be at the game. It should be a Good One!

District 15-5A, Division I athletic representatives met Thursday in Corpus Christi to discuss the changes in Class 5A football announced by the UIL earlier this week.
The meeting consisted of plans for the season, how to fit in all district games and differing mandates for Corpus Christi and Victoria schools, according to VISD Athletic Director Spencer Gantt.
“The meeting went really well,” Gantt said. “All the coaches are on the same page, which is doing what is best for our kids while making sure they still have the opportunity to play. Now, everyone has to make adjustments, and that’s exactly what’s happening. I was very pleased with the outcome.”
While Gantt said many issues were discussed, no changes were made to the schedule.
“The schedule is staying the same, unless we run into problems,” Gantt said. “If we get a couple weeks into the season and we have to delay things, then our backup plan is to get as many games in as we can.
“The UIL says you have to have five days between games, so our plan is to play three games every two weeks. But that is only for a worst-case scenario.”
Corpus Christi ISD students are allowed to participate in strength and conditioning drills. They will start practices on Sept. 7 and play games beginning Sept. 24.
VISD schools are not allowed to participate in strength and conditioning drills. As a result, Victoria East and Victoria West would start practices Sept. 14 and games Sept. 31.
“As is, we would be a week behind Corpus,” Gantt said. “Nueces County did not include athletics in their shut down whereas Victoria did, and we are hoping we can get on the same page as them. But the schools were very good about making sure that the schedule will stay aligned for us to be able to start our district at the same time.”

I hope they have live feeds for games. I might actually miss my first game in 15 years due to this coronavirus. I can wear helmet type device or just watch it from home if they steam it, which would be the better option.
Then there is the issue of attendance. How will schools decide who gets to attend a game if stadiums are at 50% capacity. I’m really curious about that.
If cases drop, then I’ll want to attend, but may of us are fans of schools that draw a lot of fans.

I would 100% wear a mask to be able to attend games, no issue whatsoever.

Maybe some of the smaller schools who draw big crowds should look at moving their games to larger stadiums in their area to accommodate the capacity concerns? 3000 attending a game in Wimberley or Liberty Hill would be a drop in the bucket at Texas State or one of the larger AISD, Westlake, Lake Travis stadiums. Maybe just for that marque or rival game? I'm going to guess season tickets might be out of the equation this season as well? Usually by now I get a post card in the mail and pick up date usually begins the end of July or early August

Seems pretty crummy way to treat season ticket holders who have been loyal supporters many for years and years. I get players families should get priority but after that I think loyal fans over the years should be next.

At least one year stick it to the season ticket holders than don't even show up to the games. I can't speak on 2019 but my last few years in Alice the home side (season ticket holders) is half empty on Friday's.
