UIL announces delayed start for Class 6A and 5A for 2020 Texas high school football season Untouched for now, though, is Class 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A, which will continue as scheduled — practices will start August 3, games will kickoff August 27-29, playoffs begin November 12 and the state championships remain scheduled for mid-late December. I am SOOO excited! I know Calallen is all a buzz right now! Phones are blowing up with excitement! D talked to the UIL this morning and he was assured he’d be happy with the announcement today! I actually yelled out loud when I saw it! Go Cats!

I think I made a quote”Don’t worry about the mule going blind, just load the wagon”. Well the whiners in 5A should be happy. Their student ain’t going to school in Aug/Sept and athlete ain’t going to play ball till it snows. Me and Johnnys is going to watch Rockport/Sinton play ball and then I can catch GP.

No Cal vs GP this fall. A reprieve from another Calallen whooping.

We learned something new about Covid today. When it approaches a Texas city that has a 4A or below high school, it goes completely around those cities and doesn't affect them. That's pretty cool.

Dallas ISD and Hidalgo 4A's are delayed due to Dallas County and Hidalgo County orders. So not untouched. Calallen, TM, and Miller are lucky so far.

Is the risk higher at school than HEB where the teacher buys grocery's? Um, lets see...…..... My wife goes to HEB a MAXIMUM of 1 time per week and it takes her less than 20 minutes in the store, usually closer to 10. In that trip I suspect she gets within 6' of another person maybe 6-10 times. In her classroom she will be in it 7-8 hours/day with kids and I don't care what you do you cannot maintain 6' from 2nd grade children.....IT WON' T WORK. At school she will not just be exposed to the children within her own classroom but potentially 500-600 more that utilize the same corridors and restrooms.

Wow, I think all you have to do is touch a button on the Credit card machine that hundreds have touched during the day. Push a basket that was not sanitized that hundreds pushed during the day. I watch people pick up a item look at it and set it back down. I do know of people who got it at a family gathering. I do not know of anyone that has caught it at school. There is no safe place. I use the ATM machine at HEB. Are you really this unaware? There is hand sanitizer EVERYWHERE you look at our HEB....not to mention we carry our own just for instances like you say above about the credit card machine! At our HEB there is a person literally standing there handing you a cart that they have just sprayed and wiped down. Quit acting like there is no more risk for a teacher or coach to get it while dealing with kids than in a normal day at home or EVEN at HEB.

I would think every student would have to be tested to start the school year. I would think the school would set up a temperature checking machine at the front door. If your choice is set your student in front of a computer all day, so be it, that is your choice. And what good is testing each student at the start of the school year? Please elaborate on this and tell us how the hell that will matter one bit. Then, tell us how checking people's temperatures as they enter a facility will help when most people, ESPECIALLY children do not run fevers when they have COVID! Yes, we know, you are 80+ years old, kicked cancer's azz, tougher than a railroad spike, yada yada yada...……..but you are way wrong with what you are suggesting here that our teachers will not be at a risk going back to school. Do I think we must move forward, hell yes I do but we need to do it as smart as we can and if that means waiting until the end of September or even October or later to do it in order to try and get this Virus to settle down some, then DO THAT!

Rethink whether or not you want your student taught by the same teachers that are cranking out these rioters and fake protesters that are destroying our culture. I have one great grandson that is going to home school instead of set in front of a computer all day. Quit speaking in general like this. You have no idea at all how most teachers think if this is a statement you make. Especially teachers of our young kids! If you want to point at what is causing the absolute stupidity going on in our country, then look no further than parenting that either doesn't exist much at all, or that is just downright terrible when it does. And before anyone jumps me about this realize I'm not talking about all parents, I'm talking about the ones producing this small percentage of our young adults that cause 99% of the problems in society!

The majority of 4a and below schools are small towns with much less COVID impact, you can look at the stats.

Jesus Christ is this meathead gonna continue to get to bring politics to this forum any time he wants? Where is Aledo Alumni and FBfan calling this dude out for talking politics? Oh wait, that's right... same politics so... silence. Really Chino? Really? Nowhere does he mentions politics in this post. You are reading into it what you want to read into it. You have brought politics up in this thread more than once yourself and I can go back a few pages and find a post where you blatantly did it.

So when a few thousand people sit in the stands to watch these games, what about that risk? It may have LESS impact in a small town but it just takes one or two to swamp a small town.

When the government needs to tell you what right and what’s wrong, then we are in trouble. That is exactly what happened.

Apparently the state and UIL see it this way.
