From Matt Stepp:
For those wondering the UIL did reiterate the message today that the intention is to have a #txhsfb season this year....so anyone worried about a cancellation of the season can rest easy for the moment
A reply: "Thanks Matt but as a Cubs fan this feels like the start of September when my Cubs aren’t technically mathematically eliminated but......"
From Matt Stepp: Any announcement by the UIL about the 2020 season is not going to be set in stone..the whole situation is fluid and I'll be very surprised if the UIL doesnt leave themselves room to adapt and adjust if the public health situation warrants #txhsfb

Calallen ISD school board approved the following tonight: School starts virtually Aug 19 Face to Face instruction begins Sept 8-9 for PK, Kinder, 4, 6 and 9th grades Face to Face for everyone else Sept 10. Virtual options will be available as well for anyone who chooses. Victoria Schools following something similar: Victoria public school students will not return to campus in August. Victoria campuses are to remain closed until Sept. 7, but virtual learning will begin Aug. 18. Extracurricular activities will not be allowed until students return to campus, local health authority Dr. John McNeil announced during a news conference Monday. The order applies to Victoria, Bloomington and Nursery school districts. “We are planning to have a virtual start to our school year with this order,” Victoria school district Superintendent Quintin Shepherd said. Students will begin remote instruction on Aug. 18. McNeil, as public health authority, was able to make an order regarding back to school under the Texas Education Agency’s recent guidelines. It said local entities, with widespread COVID-19 cases, can determine when schools open brick and mortar buildings through November. Victoria has widespread community transmission of the virus, McNeil said. “We never thought we’d get like New York, and Houston is really close to being like New York,” McNeil said. With Victoria being close to Houston it made sense to close schools. Victoria County has 2,489 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 23 deaths, as of Monday afternoon. McNeil said it didn’t make sense to send children back to school to breathe the same air for eight hours when more than 10 people can’t gather in public. He also noted a recent study that showed children 10-19 years old have the same transmission rate of the virus as adults. “I want my kids back in school too,” but the risks are too high at this moment, McNeil said.

Is the risk higher at school than HEB where the teacher buys grocery's?

Is the risk higher at school than HEB where the teacher buys grocery's? I don't know how the teachers shop but I am moving constantly when I shop and I don't sit down with a group of shoppers in HEB and talk for a hour and my HEB is a little bigger then a class room so my answer would be higher risk in the classroom...…..

Is the risk higher at school than HEB where the teacher buys grocery's? A teacher isn't at HEB 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Let the nonsense go.

Wow, I think all you have to do is touch a button on the Credit card machine that hundreds have touched during the day. Push a basket that was not sanitized that hundreds pushed during the day. I watch people pick up a item look at it and set it back down. I do know of people who got it at a family gathering. I do not know of anyone that has caught it at school. There is no safe place. I use the ATM machine at HEB.

I would think every student would have to be tested to start the school year. I would think the school would set up a temperature checking machine at the front door. If your choice is set your student in front of a computer all day, so be it, that is your choice.

Rethink whether or not you want your student taught by the same teachers that are cranking out these rioters and fake protesters that are destroying our culture. I have one great grandson that is going to home school instead of set in front of a computer all day.

I guess, a lot of rural schools have a hard enough time keeping teachers, let alone get rid of them. Just another conspiracy!! Teachers are grooming children to be rioters and vandals.

Yes they're checking everybody temperature and fill out a form of a few questions in schools i've had to go service during this Covid. Just about half of the places i go through out the day check your temperature. I usually only KN95 mask as lot of the places require wearing a mask from visitors but good portion of them don't have mask in their business, how do i know they're not infected so my best safety precaution is wearing a KN95 mask. I would hope to never get it as i go to alot of places through out the week.

UIL announces delayed start for Class 6A and 5A for 2020 Texas high school football season
Untouched for now, though, is Class 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A, which will continue as scheduled — practices will start August 3, games will kickoff August 27-29, playoffs begin November 12 and the state championships remain scheduled for mid-late December.
