I don't have a copy of Dave Campbell mag yet and am curious to see what he has to say about Rockport.

I thought Sinton was fairly young last year and that is why they started off slow? This and a new coaching staff.

Yea 6 sophomores and 3 freshman starters last season. Offense depending on formation last season would have only 2 senior starters on offense. Defensively they did rotate in a lot of seniors and secondary was heavy on seniors.
Haven't seen DCTF yet haven't received it in the mail yet. Calallen mail is slow, jk mailman is cool. Matt Stepp likes Rockport being strong again think he has Sinton and Rockport as 1 and 2 in 4a D16 D2. Sinton opens up rank #25

I think Rockport got hurt by graduation and so did Sinton but both should be competitive. R-F has hit a big hump in the road at the 3rd round it seems a few times the past 7 years or so. Last year we all know they gave Wimberley their best game of the playoffs until the Texans met up with Pleasant Grove in the finals. R-F since 2013 has been a solid bunch going to the 3rd round 4 times and 2nd round 3 times. What R-F needs is a solid signature win in the playoffs against a powerhouse type team which I don't see on their resume yet. They have beaten teams like Hondo, Kingsville, Zapata, Canyon Lake, LaFeria, Crystal City, and Progresso but have gotten beaten each and every time they've faced a really solid team. There last 7 seasons have come to an end to Gonzales, LH, LaVega, Navarro, and Wimberley. They need to ramp up their game a tad more and get past one of these schools that are known for winning big time.

As Bum Phillips of the Houston Oilers once said after 2 very close losses to Pittsburgh, “Last Year We Knocked on the Door, This Year We Kicked on the Door and Next Year We are Going to Knock the Son of ***** In”. Easier Said than Done. In Addition to Rockport‘s Disappointing Loss to Wimberley last Year, they had a Miracle Loss to Liberty Hill ( Liberty Hill threw a 50 yard TD Pass on 4th Down with 38 Seconds Left in Game). Also 2 Times within the 7 Year Period, Rockport had to play Waco LaVega in the Second Round. One of those years LaVega Won State and the other year LaVega was Ranked 3rd in the State. Rockport just did not have the same type of Athleticism to Compete.

Let's not forget during this time they also had to contend with the after effects of Harvey. Them and Refugio managed to navigate it well. Much better than I expected post storm for sure.

Rockport replaces 5A Division 1 King with 4A Division 1 Miller to start season. I was wrong, Rockport opens up against Aransas Pass and then plays Miller at Rockport for second game of season. Rockport has only one Scrimmage against Alice.

Kid is pretty good, it'll be interesting to see if RF goes more to being a passing team once he gets comfortable playing at the varsity level. HC son.
