Tivy needs to do a better job of scouting in the play offs. They could have succeeded on one fake punt and won the game with Calallen. Cal retreated to quick to block for the returner and Tivy could made a first down or more and the punter punted. McCallum saw that they needed to go after the QB and saw he could not take a hit and it worked. Well to be fair maybe, just maybe McCallum had a week to scout that game. Tell me coach did Calallen do this all year? Another thing about the McCallum game and I have been letting you slide on is the Calallen offensive line was beat up going into that game. They were a shell of a team that they had during district. Alice gave McCallum a game and Calallen had their way with Alice that year. I'm not sure what game you watched that day to not to see that.

You’re right about Calallens line that game because CalCat Girl and many others have said that.

Our O-line was pretty much a walking wounded group and tried to tough it out as is expected in the playoffs. McCallum did a great job exploiting that weakness they obviously saw the week before against Tivy and that is what a team is supposed to do. Even some neutral observers on here like Clemensbuff saw us earlier in the year saw the daylight to dark difference because he saw us against SA Johnson. Our O Line made their D look silly that day for lack of a better word.

I'm surprised no R4 team made the dctf top 10.

I have a copy video of the Cal vs McCallum game. watched it again. I saw Tivey hit Cal QB and he landed on the sideline and was slow getting up. If you are a scout, a red flag goes up. I watched Tivey punt and Cal line dropped back to block for receiver. Tivey could have ran for 20 yds plus and kept the ball, a red flag goes up. I have noticed a weak Cal kicking game for several years. I noticed a opponent ran back a Cal kickoff for a TD. I was at the GP Cal game and noticed Cal players helping players up after a large number of plays. Cal did not have a tough enough team to compete in the playoffs.

I think that team was plenty tough to compete in the playoffs. SA Johnson had a bigger faster team than that Austin team and Cal tore them up. That was essentially the same O line that competed for a state championship the year before. They were banged up and anyone that saw this game could see it on the field. You can say a lot of things about Calallen but saying they are not tough enough is pretty far out in left field. But hey the team lost that night and it happens, Austin MC did a heck of a job and had a good squad.

I think it is the same year I saw Tuloso play Alice and it looked like both teams were high on body fat. Some body fat on the offense is exceptable but their defense should have less as they need quickness. Alice scored 1 more point on McCallum as did Cal if memory serves me right. McCallum players defense did not have a lot of body fat and they were quick and aggressive. Cal injuries may have been from lack of flexibility however I do not know how much stretching Cal does. I suspect McCallum had some banged up players also. I saw about 20 players for Tivey in street clothes setting OU their game. I sat with a GP dad who had a son playing with a sprained ankle in the Cal game and I think GP was playing with a backup RB. It may get really interesting when Cal and Beeville lock horns.

Calallen absolutely abused Johnson from start to finish that night and if not for two huge KO returns by Johnson the Cats win that game by at least 2 more scores. And that Johnson team was a solid 6a team. I will say it right here and whoever wants to pick it apart can but I've watched a ton of football...…..if that Cal team stays healthy they win another region easily and given college station all they wanted in the semi-finals.

Wow magazine is already out? If so that means we are getting close to football season! I subscribed to insiders several years ago and got my magazine AFTER I started seeing them on the shelves. My magazine was squished and all tore up as well. They sent me another to make it right but decided after that experience I’d just buy it off the shelf in the future.
