I wish the GP Wildcats a great season.
You don’t judge character when the going is good.
You judge character when the going gets tough!

I think this team will surprise people. ALOT of so called GP fans have jumped off the bandwagon but they may regret that. The past is the past. Look toward the future.

So true. I think the last team to make playoffs was Blaines Senior year which was Coach As last year. GP football as we knew it is gone. More kids are going to different sports or extracurricular activities. Probably the best facility's in the area. In my opinion its like decorating a pile of crap. In the end its still crap. My son played football in JR high. He decided to play soccer instead. I didn't have a problem with it and now looking back at the last 3 years. It is now his senior year. I'm glad he didn't cause to know what G-P football was and what it has turned into now it just plain hurts. It used to be fun and we had a sense of pride rushing through the combined city's. People would pat us on the back and buy us meals if we were in a restaurant. Not like that anymore! So how do you explain the problem? You have a proven coach who has won the big game a couple times at a lower classification but also had a lot of success while at New Braunfels as well.

I believe there is talent in GP. The talent has not been surrounded by decent help from the other grades.
It’s a team effort. One athlete cannot win by themselves.
GP needs one winning season and it will get going.
So I’m not going to bang on the coach or the kids.
IMO, you have to have a strong senior/junior class with 4 or 5 sophomores contributing in about 30 to 40 plays. Add a talented freshman or two and you got it going on.

Clem I can only speculate. I suspect Coach Rhoades is at the end of his career and not going to make waves about what he has for assistant coaches. His assistance's have tenure. Most were hired under Coach George Harris and many new Hires played under Coach George Harris. They are a clique or mob. His salary is calculated into his pension. He is not going to make elsewhere what he is getting at GP. Many of the fans at the game or band parents and leave after the halftime. I have seen one guy leave after the 2nd series. There are some devoted players giving all they have and playing with injury. I see some on the sideline in street clothes and do not look like they have a injury. Attitude is a problem. Coaches not believing in coaches and coaches not believing in players and players not believing in players and players not believing in Coaches. I got a thank you email from Coach Sam Harrell in the playoffs last year and I bet you this attitude is his philosophy. More speculation, Coach Rhoades son bailed out because DR, Clore would not replace some of the coaches and he did not want to coach with the mob.

What is the status of the scrimmage against Steele? Is it still on the GP schedule?

What is the status of the scrimmage against Steele? Is it still on the GP schedule? I just spoke to the school. The Steele scrimmage is on. It'll be in Kenedy and no fans will be allowed.

I asked why so few people were being allowed to attend games. I mentioned others schools were allowing fans. I was told it was for social distancing but I didn't get the feeling the athletic department fully agreed with the policy. They are working on getting a live stream set up for home games.

I read somewhere that the Home teams are the ones to do steaming for the games. But I am sure there are teams out there that will stream the games away as well.

Yea - makes sense. Calallen marked the stands to indicate where people can sit to ensure social distancing.
