I'm curious to know Alice fan's thoughts on your coaching situation. Your coach has been applying at lots of places the last few years. Eventually he's gonna get one of the jobs. Who would Alice fans want to take over after? This isn't a hateraid comment this is a conversation starter. I need to clarify that before I get attacked.

First off ... I don’t consider myself an Atwood hater or an Atwood defender ... all I know about the guy is what I read on these forums and what I see on the field as far as results ( wins / losses etc) ..Also I don’t live in Alice or have any ties or connections to Alice anymore ...so I’m just throwing my 2 cents as a coyote fan and outsider ... that said ... some of the stuff I’ve read about Atwood on these forums at times seems a bit harsh and ridiculous ( mustache gate , Halloween costumes during practice etc ... seems people just looking for things to complain about ). but I can understand the frustration... at times the team during Atwood’s tenure has shown flashes of potential and at other times the team on the field has looked disinterested and disengaged on the field on more than one occasion ..the team has quit on the field several times . One week you think “ wow the coyotes have potential of making a deep playoff run” and then the next week they are getting 70+ points scored on them in an embarrassing loss...I’ve never seen anything like that in all my years following coyote football.. Alice has had 70 + points scored on them multiple times during Atwood years ( twice last year I believe )...just flat out embarrassing .. with all that .. still Atwood has managed to guide the coyotes into the playoffs 3 out of the last 4 years to keep the coyote program afloat...so for that I don’t really have any strong urge or desire to see him to leave the program ... i genuinely want him to succeed for the sake of the kids and for the coyote program .. it’s just that the product on the field has been so inconsistent and overall kinda meh .. again just keeping the program afloat by making the playoffs.. which is cool I guess but as a fan I want more... I want to be excited about the program ....I want deep playoff runs , district titles etc ... not 3rd/4th place district finishes and 2nd round playoff losses ( again keeping the coyote program afloat) ... it’s like not being attracted to your girlfriend of several years anymore but hey she provides you with some companionship and cooks for you so i guess I’ll stay with her ... lol that’s kind of how it feels .I realize the coyotes are in one of the toughest districts in the state and given the circumstances last year with the pandemic..it’s hard to complain too much about the results Atwood has produced so far ..... as for Atwood .. obviously he wants out .. which I don’t blame him either .. Alice is a toxic place to coach at ...I don’t have any negative feelings towards him if he leaves .. I wish him well ... all I can hope for as a coyote fan is for a coach to come in that wants to be here and stay here for the long haul ... ( which I know that’s hard cause AISD sucks ) the coyote program has not had any consistency at the head coaching position since Van Tom Whatley ....which is what I sorely miss about the coyote glory days.. the program desperately needs good coaching stability to truly become a powerhouse again ... anyways rant over lol

Alice had consistency with Soza being there 7 years. Would be going on year 13 right now if the board... well I'm not gonna start on them again but I'll just say in my opinion, Soza being in Alice 13 years would have won you a couple of regional titles already at the least. Especially with the talent Alice had the last few years.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about him as a coach ,mentor/role model, family man , human being ..etc ...the list goes on ...There’s no doubt in my mind Coach Soza would have had the coyotes playing at a powerhouse level by this point in his tenure had he stayed in Alice... the 2012 coyote season was a small sample of what the coyotes could’ve become under Soza ... it sucks the final years of Soza’s time in Alice were riddled with injuries and school board politics/ sabotage

AISD does AISD things. Just not an ideal place to be like it was in the past. Add to that, too many jealous chismosa parents talk about everyone's kids.

If Attwood can find a better job somewhere else, good luck to him, as long as he makes sure to take his DC brother with him.If Coach Andre Willie is still at Alice, and he applies for the HC job,he should get it,even though we all saw what happened to another hometown product( Chris Soza)It would be good to maintain the same offensive scheme.I believe Coach Willie is the current OC,then search for a DC that can get the job done. This hire would maintain some continuity in the program which is important. On another subject, does any Coyote fan know why Jacob Guzman is not playing baseball for the team?

But during his 4 years in Alice has been somewhat “Jekyll & Hyde” the 1st year he inherit the talent from Soza/Evans which led to that 3rd round run which fell one game short to face Calallen. 2018 was a disarray after the Floresville which cost us a playoff bid. 2019 them boys came back with a vengeance despite dropping the Southside & Calallen only to win the last game at home vs G-P to reach 2nd year. 2020 was a tumultuous one only play one non-district vs Wimberley in Jourdanton which didn’t give them time to gel. Going 1-1 only to forfeit the Calallen & Calhoun game because of that COVID. Needed to win over T-M in a hostile environment despite sloppy play by our offense till that horse collar play became the turning point for that W then there (T-M) players went at it with our boys which one of our players got ejected. Made playoffs called up like 30 freshman for playoffs vs Hidalgo & LBJ one of them made a huge play to seal the win & LBJ was too much which we didn’t have our RB (Salaiz) & 2 of our players that was the writing on the wall which ended our tumultuous season. We have stability in the talent pool for a while but can the disciplinary department shape up in which we shall find out

It sucks for the kids at Alice that lost out when he left.
