Yeah my son played on kick off yesterday and went in as running back for a few plays in the fourth quarter although he didnt actually get any running plays he did excellent on his blocking for guzman. I told him his mother and i were very proud of him and his teamtes. He says they were not scared at all, lbjs speed just made it seem that way lol. Also to note these kids are not only 14 most of them just turned 14 this summer so not only are they freshamn they are young even at that. Much respect for your son but Alice as a team was intimidated. Sorry dude but I was on the sidelines and you could see it. Did you go to the TM game? I was on the sidelines that game also and the Alice players were full of confidence and talking smack to the TM kids. That was nowhere to be found yesterday. They were intimidated from the opening kickoff and not a single coach did anything to change that mindset in them. I know the difference. I was on the sidelines in 2017 and Alice was LOADED with team leaders. They haven't had that since then. Being on the sidelines I can tell you it matters. Look at Miller, those kids can lose and/or have a ton of points put on them and it doesn't phase them the next week. The next week they still feel like they could beat anyone in the state. Look what they just did to Lampasas. Alice doesn't have a talent problem they have a confidence problem and coaching problem and culture problem. This isnt the Alice culture from the past whether anyone wants to admit it or not. agree. Some of those Freshmen parents were mad their kid didn’t make varsity. One kid moved and another had his parent calling Atwood while her kid was making fun of the one freshman that did make varsity saying he didn’t deserve it. Then the kid finally makes varsity cuz no freshman team and then can’t recover 2 kickoffs. Maybe cuz the coaches know the speed of the game. I know the coaching was not that great but where do we go from here? One more year with Atwood and see what he does with the juniors he had this year as seniors or should Alice seriously go back to the drawing board? And thinking and doing are different because AISD won’t let him go just yet I don’t think.

This isnt the Alice culture from the past whether anyone wants to admit it or not. agreed on most things. But alice wasnt intimidated yesterday they got deflated early and no one did anything about it coaches etc. Did you stay the whole game? If you saw the how chippy the game got in the 3rd quarter you would know alice wasnt intimidated by anyone and they let mccuchin know it. And as far as miller goes i think its to early to look up to miller for anything. They been blessed with an amazing qb probably once a decade qb iam curious to see how they do moving foward. Kind of hard to look up to a program that hasnt been relevant in a very long time. 2017 alice had 20 plus seniors on that senior ladden team atwoods first season so yeah one could expect for there to be more leadership on a team like that. Just my 2 cents My point about Miller is the mindset of their kids so your comment on them is irrelevant to that. Someone doesn't need to be a senior to be a leader or have confidence. Getting "chippy" when you're already down by 40 and theres no longer any pressure of expectations isn't, "not being intimidated". They should have been chippy from the first snap like they were with other teams. Do I need to repeat my TM game example or are you just gonna ignore the point I made about the difference again? I'll tell you why I'm so critical of Alice teams when I see things like this before you think that I think me or the teams I played on were special... we weren't and neither was I and it eats at me still at age 46 that I myself played scared and because of it didn't reach my potential and neither did the team I was on my senior season. You dont want your kid to be me at 46 still regretting stuff from high school football. You cant play scared and you can't be intimidated. LBJ's players regardless of how they look in pads are also just kids. Nothing to be intimidated about.

When did this culture start IYO? Probably around early 2,000. I believe Henry Herrera retired as Superintendent around 2008. When he had full control and support from the school board AISD as a whole was top notch.

You dont want to admit it but facts. You were alices biggest advocate up until that point. So although you have alot of good points that i agree with it hard to totally buy into what you say cause just reading your post you can tell the anger you have towards everything alice.

As an outsider it’s sad to see the way things are going in Alice. What I’ve learned from being a fan and alum of a college program who has lost its mojo over the last decade is that pride and tradition can only take you so far. You have to nourish and replenish it with more winning and accountability.

Nobody said they don't work hard but be real. Varsity had only 27 kids at one point thats why so many underclassmen got moved up. so your saying they dont deserve to be there? I didnt say that. Im just saying if Varsity had the normal 50-55 kids they use to have they wouldn't be there.

I dislike 4 individuals within AISD and I overdid my comments when it first happened but that is the past and has nothing to do with my current criticism of whats become of that place. And you havent been on here long enough if you think my criticism of that place just started when they screwed me.

Those of you Alice fans wondering why things went so bad on kickoffs and kickoff returns yesterday... Alice had 5 of those freshmen on the kicking teams from what I was told. That shot us in the foot bad & I don’t mean bad but GATCHO BAD.

LBJ was obviously better than Alice but they aren't 72-20 better. That was a horribly coached game especially from an energy standpoint. Alice showed up like they thought it was just a scrimmage. Same lack of energy you see in scrimmages. They were running their mouths and being cocky and confident when they played T-M and thats the energy they needed today but instead they were quiet and clearly intimidated by the talent on the other side. This is why you schedule teams like LBJ for nondistrict not Kingsville, Laredo and the Valley. That’s what’s killed us in years past they don’t change up the non district opponents when you stick playing vs teams like Alexander, H.M. King & whatnot that doesn’t cut the mustard at all.
