Stop with the small school nonsense or maybe you are not aware that Refugio, Falls City, Shiner, Cameron ect are in South Texas. Guess they don't matter in your small world smh. I am aware. I only stated that it is further then the 4-5 1/2 hours that a South Texas school travels to Arlington for schools like Gruver, Canadian, Stamford, New Deal, and Texarkana Pleasant Grove to SA or Houston. It's about 7 hours to Arlington from here. Not sure where you are getting 41/2 hours from.

There is some truth this, but I don't really blame them for thinking like this. I know a number of folks who have moved up to DFW area and the only time they come back down this way is to visit their family and most of them fly down here. They might go to the beach or go to a favorite venue of theirs from back in the day, but that is about it. Their kids are used to being "entertained" meaning sitting in a deer blind for hours or a fishing boat in the Laugna Madre will bore the hell out of them. They would rather take direct flight from DFW to a ski resort or somewhere and that is more their thing. Stop at places like Concan, the Guadalupe, hanging out in DT San Antonio going or coming back if they are driving? Ah heck no! Ok they might stop in Austin for a bite to eat and Bucees in New Braunfels for a potty break, but that's it as far as exploring Texas south of Bureleson or DeSoto. But in the their defense , they have everything they need within the metroplex to function without having to visit the rest of the state such as world class medical facilities, universities, two major airports, and plenty of employment opportunities in almost every career field available. Many people who work sales in the DFW are confined to their region unlike people who work sales who live in Austin, SA, Houston, Corpus or the RGV where their whole sales region might be Austin southward. Likewise many in the legal, banking, medical, engineering, etc fields have the same arraignment or they are routinely transferred among the metro areas from Austin southward. In other words, many of us who live in the above noted areas in this part of the state do not see our particular metro area as the center of the state of Texas because many aspects of our daily lives require us to expand our boundaries. Totally inaccurate. More like a blind man trying to describe an elephant by braille. It's the off-season still and I'm way ahead on our pre-season articles for the website so I have time to be amused by excessive paranoia lol

See, they complain about travel but when things get turned around they dont want to hear it. You would cry like a little girl if Aledo had to drive 7 hours. What I'm pointing out is that its more than a 4.5 hour drive to Arlington from here. If a team from the valley made the big dance, you're looking at close to a 9 + hour bus ride.

My Mapquest shows 414 miles or 5 hours and 48 minutes from Corpus Christi to Arlington, Texas Refugio is right at 5 hours and Shiner, Yoakum, Falls City and Cuero closer to 4 hours or so. Canadian drove over 8 1/2 hours to get to Houston in 2015, mapquest shows 548 miles or 7 hours 45 minutes from Brownsville to Arlington

Y'all are wasting your time. You'll never convince folks from DFW that the world doesn't revolve around them. Thank you, next! I agree with you on this one. They don't realize there is civilization outside the DFW metroplex.

My Mapquest shows 414 miles or 5 hours and 48 minutes from Corpus Christi to Arlington, Texas I've personally made the drive from Alice, Texas to Dallas twice a year for 20 years and its 7 hours driving like a bat out of hell. Your mapquest doesn't factor in the delays you face on I35. It's a damn nightmare. I eventually started taking the long way via 281, but it's still 7 hours, and more time by bus.

They don't realize there is civilization outside the DFW metroplex. There isn't really except for pockets like Flour Bluff. Seriously it's incredible what people think.

Never gonna happen even in an ideal situation. These guys need to pull their heads out of their butts and take a drive down I35. Let them experience the lane closures, stop and go traffic and the Austin experience lol. I bet some of them have never been south of the DFW metroplex.

More 2 lane and small towns, but much less traffic.

I bet some of them have never been south of the DFW metroplex. And when they get all of it finally completed between Georgetown and Temple, plans are for I-35 through Downtown Austin to go through a major overhaul. Now that is going to be fun! The toll road will almost certainly have an increase in traffic.
