I looked on the Comal ISD website and saw not only Davenport is being built, but also a fifth high school in Kinder Ranch. Will opening one or both of these possibly bring Smithson Valley (and NB Canyon) down to 5A? And albeit temporary because the growth in that entire area in the Comal ISD from Boerne to New Braunfels and up towards Blanco is not going to slow down. I'm looking at property in that general area right now for a future home and I'm chomping at the bit to get my business established in that area too in order to take advantage of that growth. Won't make a complete move up there for a few years now, but I will be getting my second office up there sooner rather than later and splitting my time between Corpus and the north San Antonio metro area. And while on the subject of ISD's up there. It's weird how the Canyon boundaries are drawn. It's like most of the student in the south part of their attendance zone has to go through NB ISD to get to their high school. I guess with Davenport opening, most of those kids will go to that school? Canyon and Smithson Valley are supposed to drop to 5A for only one realignment. Since the new high schools will not open in the same realignment cycles, SV and Canyon won’t be 5A at the same time. You’re right about the Canyon HS boundaries (pre-Davenport); Comal ISD almost makes a complete donut around New Braunfels ISD. The NBISD zone is mostly the older, centralized areas of the city, with a few outlying areas also. Davenport HS zone will be based off of the new Danville MS zone (the southwest area of former Canyon HS zone that you noticed), which is fed from Garden Ridge ES and Morningside ES. Morningside ES is in New Braunfels and even Garden Ridge ES draws students from the outer edges of New Braunfels. You’re right about the significant growth. Your business will be fine if all your concerned about is enough growth. I remember reading a while back that Comal ISD is so expansive that if it ever reaches full buildout, it will have enough space for 25 high schools. 25 high schools? Wow!

Wee Chi TA Falls is talking about closing the Old High school and I wonder if the Coyote is dead. Will they pass the name to the new HS to be built. They already tore down my grade school Sam Houston Elementary. I went to Zundy Jr.Hi and that is changed. Wee Chi Ta is Indian for water is waste deep. They let a Squaw test the depth of the water and not take a chance on losing a Brave Warrior. How that changed to Wichita River , I do not know. It was also called Whiskey Ta Falls when I was growing up. The rich snobs I went to school with had daddys who were Boot Leggers. Cadailac with back seat missing pulls up in closed in garage next to Liquor store and loads up whisky thru window and takes off for Oklahoma or Dry Lubbock or Dry Abilene.

All 3 high schools would close and be replaced with either 1 or 2. It’s likely new mascots will be chosen.

That's the plan. If I had to guess, when HS #6 is planned, it will be Spring Branch MS zone on the western side of it where it borders the Boerne ISD. That's the next growth area in the ISD and it's already in progress.

Dripping Springs ISD is having an identity crisis. They are currently trying to figure out how many HS to have. With a projected build-out population of 7500 in 2035, it seems very unlikely they’ll go with a single HS, but it’s still possible. It looks like they’d be open to opening one in 2025 and another potentially in 2033 (with grades 9-10), but they haven’t decided anything. The planning committee will return in September.

Looking at Lamar CISD demographics, it appears that Terry will be headed to 6A in 2020. Foster (D1), Fulshear (D2), and LCHS (Likely D2) will stay 5A. With Lamar Randle opening in 2021, likely with just 9-10th grades, it will relieve Terry and George Ranch, and should bring both down to 5A D1 numbers for the 2022 alignment. Fulshear and Foster will both go over capacity in 2021, so they are both projected to go 6A in 2024 unless HS #7 opens. With bonds having been passed in 2011, 2014, and 2017, they really need another in 2020 to have HS #7 ready by 2023 or 2024. If they wait until 2024, HS #7 will need to have grades 9-11 at opening to keep the other schools 5A. They will also need HS #8 by 2027 or 2028, as the current Fulshear zone will need relief again. files.pasademographics.com:800/Reports/2019/Demographic%20Update%20-%20Lamar%20-%20Feb%202019.pdf

New Caney HS (likely) and Porter HS (almost certainly) are expected to go 6A in 2020 due to their projected enrollments for 2019. New Caney HS #3 is expected to open in 2022. If it were to open with just 9th grade, NCHS and Porter HS would stay 6A in 2022. If it were to open with 9-10, they could all be 5A, depending on whether or not they allow Porter to take in kids from the NCHS zone, but there would likely be no varsity football at HS #3 until their senior year. If they open with 9-11, HS #3 would be 5A and participate in varsity football in year 1. With a projection of nearly 7000 students by 2028, someone will likely go 6A by then if they don't get another HS built, and NCHS has room for 2600. files.pasademographics.com:800/Reports/2019/Demographic%20Update%20-%20New%20Caney%20-%20April%202019.pdf

In Leander ISD, Rouse is projected for 5A D2 in 2020. Cedar Park, Glenn, and Leander are projected for 5A D1. Vandegrift and Vista Ridge will stay 6A. Projecting out to 2028, Vandegrift looks stable at around 2800. Cedar Park will fluctuate between 2100 and 2300. Vista Ridge will stay around 2700. Rouse will explode to 3100. Leander will end up with around 2700. Glenn will grow the most with over 4000. Every campus has a capacity of 2400 except for Cedar Park, with 2150. HS #7 is being designed, but another bond is needed to fund construction. HS #8 is supposed to have its land being purchased. HS #7 is planned for 2024, and will relieve Glenn and likely Terry. That is really all they need through 2028, unless they decide to get Vandy, VR, and Leander down to capacity (doesn't appear likely). files.pasademographics.com:800/Reports/2018/Demographic%20Update%20-%20Leander%20-%20Oct%202018.pdf
