Princeton may go up this round, but when do you think that Melissa will go up to 5A (or add another school). Melissa won't add another school for a while. Looks like they're going for a 3000-student HS. Melissa is still growing slower than Anna, so it'll be mid-2020s before they go up.

Ector County ISD (Odessa) is looking at a possible November 2017 bond to build at least one more high school. The superintendent wants 2, but is pushing for at least 1 more. This makes perfect sense as both schools are over 3600. 4 high schools in Odessa would mean they'd pretty much always be paired with San Angelo Central and the 2 Midland schools. www.oaoa.com/news/education/ecisd/article_78b504e8-26d5-11e7-a802-f38aa5c36809.html

The 2021 projection is for Odessa to have 4229 and Permian to have 4899, and even more for 2026. That's 9128, or an average of 2282 per school. If they did it right, all 4 could probably be 5A, assuming the cutoff jumps up to 2300 by then. But that is a very tight window. Might be better to roll with 3 high schools for a while until the numbers would support a 4th 5A school. Also, Abilene Cooper could make a jump by then.

I knew the numbers would be a little over the current projects, but with the recession out West I figured the lower grades had possible dropped. I agree on waiting for the 4th school to make sure the numbers support it. They miss the hay-days out West and I wouldn't not be shocked at all if there was a long term game plan to try to drop to 5A.

Dropping down would really help since DFW is mostly R1 in 6A. I can't believe San Angelo hasn't tried to balance enrollment some yet. Then again, I kind of can see why since Central has done pretty well.

Hays, Comal, and Belton ISDs bonds pass to build new high schools.
Round Rock ISD bond fails, so I removed RR HS #6 from the master list of new schools.

Northwest agreed to buy 155 acres for a 3-campus site in Haslet. It will be a while before a new HS is built there. The demographic report shows there are 30,211 future lots within Northwest ISD's boundaries, which is the most in DFW. Prosper follows with 27,888, while Denton, Eagle Mountain-Saginaw, and Midlothian each have around 20,000. Remember, Northwest ISD is bumping up its high school capacities to around 3000. Prosper wants to have 5A high schools. Denton is adding a 9th grade center to Guyer to increase capacity to 3000, so that may be the future trend in that district. No word on Saginaw or Midlothian. myemail.constantcontact.com/Northwest-ISD-Board-Notes--May-8-Meeting.html?soid=1110525170892&aid=9Gd8h0prfG8

Austin ISD finally purchased land for the next HS in southeast Austin. But they haven't even begun to plan a bond for its construction. They are focusing on their new facility master plan. They expect AISD to shrink a bit overall, so I think they're waiting for it to settle a bit before building another HS.
Bowie's campus will be getting a complete overhaul. It's current permanent capacity is 2,400. They want to make it 2,900. They expect Bowie to peak around 2020-2021 at ~3,100 and then fall back to a consistent ~3,000. That means all common areas are going to be expanded. Athletics and Fine Arts facilities need to be expanded (i.e. an entirely new band hall is needed to house the huge band).
Problem is, Bowie is over the aquifer recharge zone and has very strict impervious cover restrictions. AISD is looking to purchase two adjacent lots that would make Bowie's campus almost 120 acres. That's huge for a HS. They'd use the impervious cover credits to expand the current footprint. They're also looking at using credits from another 12.5 acres located in SW Austin for Bowie's expansion.

Prosper HS #2 will break ground in Spring 2018 and open August 2020. It will be located south of 380. The Prosper ISD Nautatorium and new 12,000-seat stadium will break ground in January 2018 and be ready for August 2019. www.prosper-isd.net/Domain/1658Something tells me that HS #2 will open with 9-11 in order to drop PHS down to 5A.

I cannot imagine Prosper being in the same district as Allen. That would be a blood bath... The had a good record last year, but look who they played. They lost to Wakeland and we were up on Wakeland 21-0 before we subbed in the 3rd string in the 4th quarter and let them make it closer than it really was... The coach they brought in, that left for a college job, had a Cedar Park / Run Heavy offense. Prosper doesn't have the line or backs for that type of offense. I think the new coach was on staff, however I'm not sure if they made a change in the offense.
