Hopefully this will promote some healthy discussion and maybe take some pressure off the Alice - GP Thread!
Anyway, the Poll above is until Monday evening. Once closed, I'll share some stats I put together.

I35 from Denton to the top of San Antonio, has the most talent.
I think football can be good anywhere, as long as the play is clean, and respectable.

Purpcrab, So true about good football can be played everywhere as long as the play is clean and respectable. There are some surprises I found within my research. Another interesting tidbit I found; was if you drew a circle around Austin 20 miles out... you have teams playing in Region II, Region III, and Region IV. There are teams south of Cedar Park that are playing in Region II.

The state is growing faster and schools opening everywhere, it would be nearly impossible to make it perfect. Especially up in your area where schools are practically next door to eachother. Read somewhere there was another school, possibly Vista ridge, with in a few miles of eachother. Very cramped.

That happens up in DFW as well. Little Elm and The Colony tend to hop back and forth between Region I and Region II.

Man this a tough call. Region 4 was carried by AH,LT and CP, There are alot of great programs out there but it seems like west and north austin is a hotbed for 4a football right now.

It seems that way, but the way they've drawn the High Schools boundrys in LISD, the schools maybe close all within 5 miles of each other but then they spread outward from there. CP Spreads outward Southwest, CPVR Spreads outward Southeast, Leander spreads outward Northwest, and Leander Rouse spreads outward Northeast. Vandagrift was placed Southwest of CP actually in the Austin city limits due to the numbers growing in the Steiner Ranch area which is almost 20 miles from CPHS and butts up to Lake Travis ISD on one side and Round Rock ISD on the other. It sounds like its cramped like in a big city.. but not really, its not even close, just suburbia USA. Leander and Rouse share a stadium and CP and CPVR share a stadium. Both stadiums are within 5 miles of each other. Make travel to games very convenient. Oh the odd man out is Vandagrift who uses their own stadium.

Denton Guyer and Lake Dallas are about three miles apart from one another, and then you've got Ryan, Denton High, Flower Mound Marcus, and Argyle within about eight miles or so. Denton High and Ryan are about four miles apart I think. Same deal now that I'm in Katy, where at times it feels like there's a high school on every corner!

5A it is Region 1 because they split DFW teams and the champs have come from there most years. 4A it has to be region 4 because they have 6 straight champions.

BS R3 and R4 both have a title in D2 the last 3 years and if you include Dekaney who is a Hell of a lot closer to Houston and R3 than R2, that is 3 in a row from Houston/SA area. D1 is dominated by 1 & 2 but Pearland got ET just 3 years ago in the finals as well. R3 & 4 are holding their ground pretty damn well.

I grew up and went to what is now called a 5A school in DFW. I just don't remember there being that many what is called 4A now in the area. Maybe I just didn't pay attention because it was all about the biggest classification for me at the time since that is what we were.

Seems like every new school that pops up does so at the 4A level. Talking over the last 5 years or so. Some have moved up to 5A since then. Would love it if the UIL could limit the districts to 8 teams. More than that doesn't allow for many non district rivals to play each other. JMO
