Does anyone know if there were any changes in Alice's coaching staff. I know one coach left to Groesbeck with one of the Crane brothers, who were on Davis's staff. Who left? The coaches that were left from Davis' staff were from Alice. All the rest Soza brought in, including his secondary coach who is one of Soza's "boys". So he isn't going anywhere.[/quote] I don't think any of Davis's staff was still here.Certainly not his main guys. So the Crane's left Davis? Davis is still at Central.

Kevin is still with Davis making head coaching money.

Sean Sullivan was a freshman coach and I believe he was moved up to varsity when Soza came in, I could be wrong. He is now coaching in Grosebeck. I believe coach Cress, who is from Corpus, is the lone holdover from the Davis regime who doesn't have roots in Alice. Cody went to Grosebeck and Kyle Atwood is the new HC at San Angelo Grape Creek. Atwood was the receivers coach and track coach in Alice during the Davis years.

I remember talking to Davis about them and he told me , no question the best he has worked with. The Soza haters wanted to get Kevin back down here a couple years ago, cuz of his Offensive mind..But they have shut up since the program is on track..

I have to admit, the offense was pretty exiting to watch. Spreading out the defense, creating wide lanes for the RBs,high percentage throws, wearing out defenses...man, it was great. I'm a Soza guy, but the slot t worries me a bit.

Davis was an excellent coach, but he had his moments of being a "drut" too... I interviewed with him out of college and then got to be on the Kingsville staff with Hafley that almost had a rumble before the game cause Davis got pissed that Hafley pulled up grass from the field as part of his pregame superstitious ritual lol... That was actually pretty intense but funny too...

I remember Davis said, I made sure someone got the hell out there and cleaned that mess up. I didnt care how long it took...lol classic.

yeah, man...those maintenance guys put in a lot of work on that field for someone to come in a mess it up. The stadium needs a lot of work, but that field is top notch.

I was surprised they let him stay at Kingsville as long as they did with the stuff he was doing their and the way he talked to the kids... He called them all kinds of names when they lost to TM that year...

Hated the guy for what he did to the kids. I do not know what my old HS is thinking as he has been there since he left Kville. It's not like Haltom and BISD can't afford top notch coaching but they have NEVER put a priority on it. SMH

There was one time I thought one of the parents was going to end Hafley... His son became a 4 year starter for A&M and he was a big ol' country boy, and Hafley did something at practice to belittle his son... They had a private meeting soon after.... Yeah birdville has been the highest paying district for teachers for years now... So spend some on a real coach.... They have a nice stadium and all too

They have a nice stadium and all too They had Rigsby at Richland in the '60s who was great and is still in the record books I am sure for 5A but that must have been a mistake. That was back when Richland was the "new" school. Haltom was Birdville then changed their name to Haltom when Richland was built but now they have a third HS as you know and named it, what else, Birdville. No, I just don't know why they don't hire great coaches. It's kind of like Flour Bluff was in that all they need is to have someone teach them HOW to play the game.
