Tom, Sorry, I'm new to the board and still haven't mastered replying to a specific post, but I'll get there. My thoughts on 5-4A:
Guyer- Heard will have plenty of targets. You mentioned Alex Honey. He will be a STUD. He tore it up this past spring. David Haynes, who could start at any 4A and Most 5A schools at QB, has too much athleticism not to be a very utilized target at WR. Ironically enough, he might get some looks st the wildcat. Also look out for Adam Scott at the slot. He reminds me a lot of Josh Stewart. Anthony Taylor will make a hell of a 1-2 punch with Breedlove at RB. Don't worry about losing Patrick Morris on the OL. Bryan Barrett is a hoss.
The defense did go through some early growing pains last year against elite 5A talent (Cedar Hill and Colleyville Heritage), but they were very young and kept getting better. That defense is going to be FUN to watch this year.
This team is LOADED with depth. They will have at least 10 SO's get significant time this year. That's not out of need, it's because they have that much talent. Look out for the name Michael Carrillo (LB) and Brandon Daniels (FS), both SO's.
Azle- You had them as the last playoff team. I guess. We (Guyer) had the game in hand last year by the end of the 1st Qtr. And they're losing their signal caller. I guess they're the best of the worst, but if they do get in, I don't see them making much noise.
Nelson and W.F. Rider- These are going to be 2 very solid teams. Nelson is still considered a "new" school, and has the coaching, facilities, and athletes to compete at a high level for a whilr. W.F. Rider is W.f. Rider. Always salty.
Lake Dallas- You are correct, the will be down this year. You are also correct in the young talent. They will have co-starters in at QB. Daegan Hahne will be a So. and will go through some growing pains. They're other QB is a WR who is not a proficient as a thrower, but has good athleticism. Keegan Brewer (WR/CB) is another So to look out for. He is looking good for a major D1 offer. Josiah Tauafa is a badass Jr DL who's 2 older brother went on to play D1 DL. They're going to be down this year, but thei future looks bright.
