Err... no, Guyer's the largest school in the district so definitely D-I. I read that back and that was poorly worded. If Aledo goes D-I they would be our first big test in the playoffs... if Aledo goes D-II then Amarillo is (probably) our first big test. I watched Aledo play Manvel this past year and I was impressed with their team. But, you take JG and that QB off their team and they don't seem all that imposing. There is no doubt they are a fine, fine 4a program and definately deserving of being back to back to back champions, but I just don't see them doing it again this year without Gray, much less if they go D1 where there will be 3-4 really strong teams. Please, don't take this as a knock of any kind against Aledo because they are certainly deserving, but I just don't see them doing it again after losing JG and a 3 years starter at QB. No doubt they will still be good, but STATE CHAMPION good???

Gray sure was a special player and will be hard to replace indeed.

No doubt, Gray was fantastic! His ability to change a game in an instant was something to see! Talking to Malcolm, he's really looking forward to being in the same backfield with him and Bergeron. If the Longhorns don't have the best trio of RBs in the country already, think about the following two years with those three fellas toting the rock!

Now that is one scary backfield, wouldn't be surprised to see UT go to bigger heights with these three involved. Guessing Malcolm would get the most carries.

Heck, if not for the turf toe and some hamstring issues early in the year, he'd have gotten 1000 as a true freshman with a pretty 'green' offensive line and a horrible passing game! Bergeron is the real deal as well. There are not many 240+ pounders with wheels like that! Then, you throw Gray into the mix who has a great 'speed burst' and some size to boot. Heck, I think the program had him listed at 196 last year on a 5'10" frame. That is a good size RB with great wheels. Kid also has great vision! Hell, I'm all for lining these 3 up in a 'stacked backfield' and letting the defense 'pick their poison'!

Of course he would've gotten 1K yards in a full season, as didn't he have like 750 yards last season. The great thing is each has its own assets. Put J-Gray on pitch puts and 1st/2nd downs, then Malcolm/Bergeron on 3rd/4th down conversions and short yardage situations. Now that's something!

Have all three back there so he cannot single out one. And Gray is explosive as a Receiver as well. Current listing has Gray at 5'11", 190 lbs. Now they need to keep the opposing Defense honest by getting passes to the great Receiver Corps. The Defense looks to be really strong this year.

But, unless there was tremendous improvement at the QB position in the last 6 months, I don't know if it'll happen. Neither QB has the arm to stretch the field IMO!

My bad. I think they have PLC a few spots high. We aren't returning anything and we all know that is near impossible to overcome. I think we at PLC should just hope we can get into the top 4 and mauteke the playoffs. I'm telling you guys, PLC has a few really good players coming up. Our Juniors this year could be one of the best classes we've had. Not just recently, but ever! I may be proved wrong, but these kids top to bottome are going to shine. They haven't played together much the last few years since some have been on the varsity team, but after a slow start, I see some good football being played at Calhoun this year. Again, 9/28 can't get here soon enough. It's then that we will see just how good PLC and Calallen really are. Actually, he might have still been on the freshman team. My son said he was. The #22 in this picture was a pretty good athlete. I dont think thats Cory, he was much bigger even then

Alice and Calallen are also part of the article. Looks like Hondo has the crown of distinction in this article.

Cal was mentioned as well "Corpus Christi Calallen is also in the mix. A perennial contender in Region IV, the Wildcats are usually good for at least 10 wins a year, but have never fared well in the state semifinals, going just 1-9 in their ten state semifinal appearances" Maybe with LaMarque now in 3A cal will stand a chance Interesting article! Hopefully G-P will get theirs soon.

I dont think thats Cory, he was much bigger even then This game really gave our freshmen group confidence that year as they had only won 2 games while in JR High. They beat PLC 42-24 and then went on to go 5-5 that season losing by less than 7 points in all their losses. As sophomores on JV, they were undefeated district champions and lost only one game to the Ben Bolt Varsity by a late TD. I'm real proud of the juniors at FB this year for preservering through those tough junior high years.
