Here is another pic of a #22 as a freshman...anyone know who this kid is? Whose the QB...#10? Will he be the QB this year? These are pics of the FB vs. PLC freshman game from the group of kids that are going to be juniors this year. Those are some big linemen too.

My bad. I think they have PLC a few spots high. We aren't returning anything and we all know that is near impossible to overcome. I think we at PLC should just hope we can get into the top 4 and make the playoffs. I'm telling you guys, PLC has a few really good players coming up. Our Juniors this year could be one of the best classes we've had. Not just recently, but ever! I may be proved wrong, but these kids top to bottome are going to shine. They haven't played together much the last few years since some have been on the varsity team, but after a slow start, I see some good football being played at Calhoun this year. Again, 9/28 can't get here soon enough. It's then that we will see just how good PLC and Calallen really are. Actually, he might have still been on the freshman team. My son said he was. The #22 in this picture was a pretty good athlete. i think #22 getting a little loose on ball handling nice tackle, FB kid needs to get his head in front of the ball carrier jmo...

I guess you're referring to my comment? I didn't mean it as a slight. I was just saying that those schools, while having a few standouts each year, do not have overall talent every year that can compensate immediately for a huge shift in a program. The more the new coaches stick to the same philosophies/styles, the easier it will be, but one thing is certain -- those hill country boys will absolutely work their tails off to be successful.

Come on URB, you've been with us too long to know that is not what he meant. Hell most players south of ATX are viewed as inferior in the state. Manziel being one LARGE exception.

I thought J. Williams was on Varsity from day 1. Not 100% sure, but I do remember him on offense during the TM game, which was game 3 or 4 that year. And think I remember him before that on defense. Some from other schools has said he has some issues with fumbling, but I've only seen him drop the ball 1 time and that one could have been attributed to a bad pitch. But, anyway, I believe some will be suprised by his athletic ability as a RB.
And those were some big Freshmen we had on the OL. Brian T and others will fill in nicely on the OL. This will be a good sized line for us this year. They will be young, but IMO, they will do just fine. They have been working in this sytem for some time, so it's not like they will need to learn different assignments, etc. Whit knows what he is doing with these kids. Brian T and a few others on the JV are better than some of the backups we had on Varsity last year. They could have easily made the Varsity team last year and probably got some playing time, but Whit wanted him and others to get more reps in. Get their assignments down and let these kids play together 1 more year.

LOL Sorry if you took my comment as a slight against your squad because it wasn't meant that way. I have no doubt that Tivy will still be a very good team even without Smith, but it would be simply unbelievable if they are still at the same level they've been at the last 4 years or so. Not many teams lose a really good HC and remain as good as they were. We will find out in weeks 1 & 2 how good the Antlers are when they play Steele and Madison back to back. Madison should have their best team in a while and Steele should be purdy good once again. If Tivy wins 1, or both those games, they will be very, very tough to deal with once again in 4a!
