It’s a small district. Without Alice they would have been a 4 team district. Hard to find that many non district games. They could have put PSJA SW in that district And kept Alice with the Corpus area schools. UIL dropped the ball on that.

From what I read on the High School Sports Magazine website they have their projections off base from what I saw with projecting Alice with the Mission Schools (Pioneer, Sharyland & Vets Memorial), Roma, Edcouch-Elsa, & Mercedes …. That would be another traveling nightmare in that projection if you ask me! Wait, Alice has 5a d2 numbers correct. Why would they go to the valley? Of course Alice has the 5A DII numbers there, I read this on the High School Sports Magazine for the past couple weeks they had Alice with the Mission schools, Edcouch & whatnot

That would be another traveling nightmare in that projection if you ask me! Wow - you were spot on with this one. Alice being sent to the Valley versus being in the local district is a big surprise. We were expecting it for Calallen but not Alice. When I did my own realignments, I had Alice projected with the Corpus Schools & G-P when I went and checked the High School Sports Magazine website they had Alice projected with the Mission Schools, Edcouch, Mercedes & whatnot from what I read the past couple of weeks …. I didn’t expect the 5 team (Alice, Sharyland, Veterans Memorial, Roma & Sharyland Pioneer) district at all

I had Alice projected to be squeezed with the Corpus Schools & G-P, but the 5 team district with the Mission Schools & Roma was a mind blown news like this came out in left field

I'm pretty sure that stadium was part of a $400m+ bond that was approved back in 2021. Just so you know, construction costs are up between 50%-75% since 2021. Also, I highly doubt that entire facility was done on the $35m they talk about because there is no way in hell that entire complex was finished for $35m. NO WAY We used to do our part of the work on schools 4 years ago for anywhere between $15-$20 per square foot. Today they are $40-$55 sq/ft depending how much goes into them and what level of materials are specified. I drove by 10-15 gas stations this morning on my way in. The cheapest diesel I saw was $3.65 and most were $3.70 or better. 4 years ago today it was under $2/gal. The Melissa stadium cost was $53 million. Maybe the $35 number was what was used from the bond? Still I stand behind my complaint that I don't want a stadium that seats less and has a visitors side looking like that. You are probably right on this. $35m was what they bonded and 53 was probably the cost. That said, if it cost 53 and finished a year ago that means it started at least a year prior to that. You can add at least another 20% more in today's cost to do the same thing so around 65m now for the same stadium

Week 1. C.C. Carroll, 2. Calallen, 3. Sinton, 4. La Joya, 5. Gregory-Portland, 6. Tuloso-Midway...
Obviously Calallen, Sinton and G-P are legit but overall I don't like this. La Joya was winless and completely blown out of every single game. How are they gonna help you improve? Carroll was blown out 5 times. How are they gonna help you improve? What team on Alice's schedule prepares them for the type of athletic talent you see in deep playoff runs? What team on Alice's schedule is gonna make the players realize the improvements they have to make if they want to compete with anyone in the state? This schedule is great for preparing Alice to compete with anyone in South Texas but that's it.
You're the product of your environment and if you don't surround your environment with big boy programs your players are never gonna get it.
Evans is the standard around South Texas and it's time everyone gives him respect. The balls on that dude to schedule Desoto. He also went after South Oak Cliff 2 years ago. He's the only one around South Texas that get's it.

I agree that a tough non-district schedule helps, but sometimes you can't make it happen. As far as Evans scheduling DeSoto, it's a dumbass move on his part. How is he going to evaluate his players when DeSoto is up 50-0 at halftime and a running clock in the 2nd half? I can see scheduling a team like College Station, Smithson Valley, Cedar Park, etc, but DeSoto is a different animal.

He is not a smart coach, he has moral issues, recruits players and schedules teams that will not make his team bettter (Desoto). Desoto will destroy them and demoralize them. They were up 45-7 at half at the state championship game last year. Getting destroyed in a game like that you dont gain anything. Stop Stop Stop talking about Evans like he has done gpod things. All he has done is cheat and teach the kids how to do things wrong. Bad lessons dont equal good coaching. I have spoken

Apparently Alice is going to the UIL to try and change districts.
