I don't think packattack95 is an insider anymore. That's why he disappeared all season. We need a new insider lol.

Excellent comment on my stadium post that I had never noticed... DH is a great friend of mine. He makes a lot of sense. Where was this originally posted? I do hope we get a new stadium.

Excellent idea. Get the community to go see the failed state the stadium is in in the hopes it helps them buy in to needing a new stadium...

$5 million is a lot of money to throw at the stadium if might not even get fixed. But passing a bond on this environment is difficult as well. Sounds like the best approach is to float the bond, and pray for it to pass. Otherwise, Alice ISD will just have to pony up the $5 million.

since i started working in the construction industry/ on the habor bridge project i have learned alot and one thing that lots of alice people dont know is one rid bar is exposed over amount of time the rust sets in and even if u cut out bad areas and patch it the rust has already set in and mess with the integrity of all the rid bar down through the cement even the areas not exposed. while a temporary fix may last another 10 years other area will start popping up.
i also think most of the people that r throwing a fit about it dont ever go to games unless family memebers kids start playing there and then they show up to support and get those facebook pics! peolpe act like the foot all team is the only ones who beneift from the new stadium but not true. alice has so many town events that use the field . plus if we were building a school instead people would be complaining that we dont need a new school we need to use that money for student conduct and learning skills. it never ends here in alice . thats why people with kids move to other towns because the same group here is killing everything.

It's frustrating beyond belief dealing with people like that. When Cal's Bond for the athletic part failed last spring, the propaganda from the athletic haters in this community was beyond crap ( and yes we have some). Some of the Facebook and Nextdoor App crap was beyond belief and even if you tried educating them, they didn't want to hear it. For one they kept on saying it was ALL going to football when only about $5 Million or so was going to the stadium for a replacement Pressbox, Elevator, New concessions and Restrooms and a scoreboard. Our Pressbox is one good hurricane gust of wind from probably being severely damaged and if we can get that from a simple cold front, maybe that visual will do the trick! . But when you tried telling some of these idiots the BAND benefits too and they are probably brought more money into the community the last two seasons because of the piss poor district we played in they still didn’t want to hear it. We only had four games in two years that brought respectable crowds from out of town and that being Alice, GP, Bluff and Cuero. The rest were beyond horrible. The band brought in 10k plus in people in ONE DAY both this year and last with the UIL Region band contest and held two warmup competitions before that which brought in good crowds too. The bond would've funded the field upgrades for softball and baseball too. What pissed me off the most was the older folks and God Bless them, but so many of them can be swayed they are going to pay through the nose for a tax increase on these bonds. The fact is their rates are FROZEN as long as they live in their home. In other words once they are 65 and if their home was taxed at $200k value, that is what they would pay as long as they live there. The home could go up in value to $1million, and they are still going to get taxed as if they are living in a $200k home with their school taxes. This law has been on the books for several years now and I can't believe some of these older folks can be scared into voting no. And the further insult on ours is we had a local loudmouth who had a bone to pick against our district trying to sink ours and she turns around and moves to TM and SHE was leading the charge IN FAVOR of their bond. I kept screen shots from Facebook and they will be used if she sticks her nose in a second attempt next year. I hope you Alice folks get a new one and your voters wake up. My sales territory now includes Alice into all the oil field areas to the West and it's starting to buzz a little. I've met some fantastic people in Alice and the community is still proud of it oil field legacy and connections and the Coyotes of course!

the other things ive seen in comments on facebook is people complaining about is tthat out superintendent keeps pushing about all kids going to school. and she needs to do more for saftey and education of kids. but it starts at home. get them to school to learn. and these people keep talking about not having enough funding. well guess what ur school gets more funding the more kids r in school every day. then they can start getting the kids more ways to get a better education.

Yep. 100% accurate. Athletics and academics set the bar and other things like band and Ag(FFA) feed off that and so on. Take Band for example. If you take the Top 20 poll for football for each class, I bet at least 10 to 15 of those schools bands will make it to the State Marching contests.
