Connell Davis was a I-Back running in the Wing-T. He went to D-1 college Missouri Coach Pinkel tried to change him to Linebacker position. He ended his career at Kingsville. Connell Davis passed away in his home in Kyle,TX in 2022. He was 35 years old. R.I.P. His obit is on Legacy. Yeah it was sad to hear of his passing.

I don't know what this is all about but congratulations to Coach Matt Anastacio on becoming a grandfather. Reed Anastacio is a Father and Conner Anastacio is a Uncle.

I got my hands on Alice Coyote history dating back over a century. The guy that compiled it graduated from Alice sometime in the 80s. Long story short, he was also a Bush fan so at least one of the binders I have is G-P history from some of Bush's years there. This article was in that binder.

Let's get the old man excited with an old article on Anastacio from his playing days. I assume this is him??? Do you know what year that was? The record they have seems like '97 when TM, GP, and Alice were in a 3 way tie for 2nd and 3rd, and GP and Alice got in.

GP made a big mistake letting Anastasio go . They would be competing for regional hardware by now had they kept him and let him build his alma mater much like Soza tried to do in Alice before a bunch of fire breathing nobodies ran him off.

I don’t disagree, if the previous 2 coaches had the same support Davis has they would have had success. Davis is doing great things.

I don’t disagree, if the previous 2 coaches had the same support Davis has they would have had success. Davis is doing great things. I totally agree. Support from admin and from the community are huge factors. Also, being able to bring in your own people is huge too. You see it not just in GP, look at Alice for instance, the Admin didn't support Soza or Evans. Soza is a great coach that could have done big things in Alice but an Admin coup screwed him. Evans wasn't given control, and so he left. Now they are both elsewhere having success. TM, the community for decades has not cared or supported the coaches, and Admin definitely didn't give 2 craps for what football did. They've made really bad hires because of it. You then look at these schools that had admin support, community support, and they can change coaches and not miss a beat. Temple for instance, had coaches leave and they stayed as a top team in their area. Liberty Hill, again had the tragedy of losing coach Jeff Walker, but his brother took over and they haven't missed a beat. Alot of that is because of Admin support and community support. Calallen, had Danaher retire, and Campbell took over and they didn't miss a beat. Again, Admin support and community support. Davis at GP, Admin and Community support, and look what they've done there! The list goes on and on in both categories. As much crap as we give 37/wfc there was some truth to the whole forced to keep hold overs and retreads. Those are not those coaches battle buddies, so they aren't going to do what is needed to help that coach out.
