Long Creek technically won’t exist in 2023-2024 school year yet. You’re right. It’s has been and will continue to be a freshman campus this upcoming year. NB should in the 3,000 range. That number is volatile of course. I’m less familiar on how the UIL handles school openings. New Braunfels Canyon (Comal ISD) has never had 5A numbers, so I don’t know they’ve managed to be in 5A for 4 years. It may just be due to the growth in the area. There are houses and apartments popping up like weeds in the Canyon attendance zone. Even NB Canyon’s branch-off school Davenport has a chance to jump to 5A in the next realignment. I'm guessing Davenport opening up had a lot to do with it and the likely projected drop in NBC's numbers didn't match up with what the projections were after it opened up. Supposedly grandfathering affected Canyon's number the first two years, but not the last time. Don't know if there will be any grandfathering @ Long Creek.

As does Alvin Shadow Creek. 2 5a D1 titles won by large 6a schools these last few years. Thanks UIL!!!!! I've been spending some time in the Alvin ISD foot print lately due to business. I had no idea how big the ISD was geographically and they take in parts of Friendswood, Pearland along with a couple of other areas on the map. Plus Alvin itself is finally hoping on the growth train after being left to age for years. There is absolutely no excuse for the UIL to allow what Shadow Creek, Manvel, and Katy Paetow did which gave them a ticket to play in a class they had no business playing in. Again these ISD's have to pay thousands of dollars for the demographic studies to justify asking for bonds and if you say your estimated enrollment is going to be a certain number in year two of an alignment period and that puts you in solidly in 6A instead of 5A as the number shows in year one, you go to 6A. Period. It was just simple laziness on the UIL not to fix this years ago. I guess Paetow being a 6A -D1 enrollment wise winning the 5A-D1 title a couple of years ago and the media actually noting this finally woke them up? Or did it?

My only guess is that Comal ISD got to submit estimated numbers two times for its district campuses. First for the opening of Davenport, and then two years later for Pieper. And yes, there will be grandfathering affecting Long Creek as well.

Alvin, Manvel, Shadow Creek and Iowa Colony. I read several years ago that they will reach buildout with 6 High Schools and 3 stadiums. So two more and another Stadium are coming.

Wonder if Manvel is going to try staying in 5A with Iowa Colony adding the final two grades?

Wonder if Manvel is going to try staying in 5A with Iowa Colony adding the final two grades? I think that's a good bet. Alvin has not dropped out of the largest classification even when Manvel split off from them. It was just a hot minute before Shadow Creek had 6A Enrollment. I think when all is said and done all 6 of the Alvin ISD Schools will be in the 6A classification.

Hey guys, the 2022-23 enrollments are up on the TEA PEIMs webpage. Yes, and please tell me I'm wrong... but I'm showing DeSoto checking in with 2232 high school students. ~6000 total students in the ISD, so it does seem to match that. But dang, that's scary for 5A.

TM needs to lose about 210-500 more kids to drop to D2 or even 3A. FB moving back up would be good for them, bad for GP. But maybe ccisd would let all but Vets drop in with GP to save them from another valley district nightmare. FB, Vets, East, and West would be a good start to a good district. Depending on the direction from which the other 2 to 4 teams comes from, that could be a great south Texas district.

It appears that CCISD may have all schools in Division 2 (including Vets), Victoria (probably also), learving Flour Bluff the only Division 1 school left in this area. Could go forward to solving some of the UIL's problems with opt-ups.

Sucks for FB though because travel is inevitable either way.
