I don't have growth projections for SBISD. For many schools, I'm waiting for the 2022 tea enrollment figures to drop before I place them. Anyone know when this is expected? No clue. I've been checking daily. They've arrived as early as March in the past and as late as May or June, so not really a good estimate there.

Crandall 1973??? Wow, they are growing. If they do move up to 5A D1, will they go east with Longview and Tyler?

The north part of the district extends into Forney, which is growing like crazy. So Crandall ISD is being hit pretty hard (not as bad as Forney ISD though). Guessing where a single school will end up is not my favorite thing to do, but I do agree that it looks like Crandall could go east.

It amazes me that Temple is doing what they are doing, and getting away with it... They refuse to build a 2nd high school because they fear it will appear racially divided. Their solution is to redraw their district lines so that even though folks live in Temple, they go to either Belton, Lake Belton, or Academy schools. People pay Temple City taxes, and one of the other school district taxes... some neighborhoods even still have to pay TISD taxes...

Unless someone can provide a link showing the ISD boundaries have moved, that is incorrect. School district boundaries rarely match city boundaries exactly, as the ISD boundaries were set in place before cities grew. Belton ISD covers part of Temple. It has nothing to do with THS. For comparison, Frisco Emerson (HS #11) is located in McKinney and is closer to MISD Stadium than any of the FISD stadiums. Denton Braswell is located in Little Elm. Prosper Rock Hill is located in Frisco. Prosper also pulls in a lot of McKinney and Celina residents, and will have a future HS in McKinney.

TISD purposely gave up these communities so that they did not build a 2nd TISD high school. One of my good friends lives directly behind an elementary school. His older 2 sons both went to it, by the time his youngest three boys came about, they no longer were in TISD school district.. They get bussed 15-20 minutes to Academy.

So its not Temple doing what they are doing as much as back in the day Temple gave up land in the boundries to Little River-Academy and Belton ISD.....plausible but definitely in the past tense..once they gave that land up nothing current admin can do Everman ISD gave up some land just east of I-35W back in the early 60s for a modest payout from FWISD......of course about ten years later Miller Brewery, Mrs. Baird's and a ton of other industrial type businesses with a large tax base popped up....Everman tried to sue to get it back in the 80s...here's the Everman ISD boundry map...notice the giant hole in the middle www.tarrantcountytx.gov/content/dam/main/elections/Maps/isds/Precincts_by_Everman_ISD.pdf

Yea but how long ago was this? Probably decades ago. But I guess it makes sense now. I always thought it was odd that a city the size of Temple only had one high school. But I guess it all makes sense now. The city of Temple isn’t strictly Temple ISD. Apparently, there are other school districts that eat into the city’s area. School district boundaries rarely move.

Apparently, there are other school districts that eat into the city’s area. School district boundaries rarely move. So to answer that, it was brought up in 2018, and the board and superintendent voted it down almost unanimously. They were going to add it to a bond that improved all the schools, but they said no. Again the reasoning was because they felt it would seem racist when dividing the school boundaries. McQueen talked about it as late as 2020 on how they will never allow 2 high schools in Temple because of tradition and not wanting to seem racist... as he put it, "the Wildcats are the only team for Temple, and that will never change!"

I can’t believe we are already talking about 2024 realignment, man time has gone by fast. I’m interested to see if any of the RGV 5A schools go back up to 6A and if any of the current 6A schools drop to 5A.

I’m more curious about how many schools might drop to 4A and those in 5A might continue to lose enrollment. Edcouch Elsa was very close last time to dropping and if the UIL raises that cutoff number, they might be 4A even if they maintain enrollment as is. Those Idea Academy charter schools are sucking enrollment from many high schools which might be more of blessing for football than a curse since getting out of 6A affords the schools down there a legit shot at good playoff runs since you wouldn’t hit Lake Travis or Austin Westlake in the third round like some of your schools have done in 6A. That’s if they survived one of the San Antonio schools.

The RGV 6A’s are doomed no matter what with their path in the playoffs.
