The crappy thing is Rider and Herschi stay open as middle schools. Wichita Falls just gets the boot completely... That school district is all kinds of idiotic.... The board named one of the high schools "Memorial" and when it Memorial Stadium was brought up, they said "well we can change that name to Veterans Stadium." Very backwards. Can people be creative anymore? Seriously we do not need anymore Memorial high schools, Veterans high schools, or Heritage high schools.

I totally agree with you on the bland school/stadium names that have popped up in the last 5-6 years. Sadly our current society is not going to take a chance with a unique name or honoring a former administrator, student, or community member. It will soon become High School #1, #2, etc like in New York City, but that might show favoritism.

For Aledo HS #2 I'd support any of the following: Buckaroos, Dragons, Texans, Plainsmen, Warhawks, or Roughriders.

Even in this day and age, you have a few in every ISD who were admired universally by most. I would say a good benchmark would be someone be considered 10 years after retirement or before then if they have passed on already.

Wichita Falls ISD was going to name one of the HS's Legacy Park which at least was the name of the neighborhood the school was built in
I am still trying to confirm with someone in Katy ISD if HS #10 is actually going varsity football in 2024

There definitely has been some great educators in Cal and TM that made huge impacts on kids. As far as naming schools, I can get behind a retired educator being the name. Stay away from politicians, actors, and such. Post world war 1 war heroes are good. It'd be cool to honor former students that brought honor to the town through extracurriculars too. Community names would even be acceptable.

Then it has Northeast HS to replace Reagan...

The board was very dismissive of the "Park" and dropped it quickly. I can't imagine Katy #10 NOT opening with 9-11 and varsity football. Katy and Paetow are projected to have a combined 8200 students in 2024 with capacities of 3000 each. But please do let us know what you find out.

Per Katy ISD its not a done deal but most likely HS #10 will open in 2024 with two grades
2024: subvarsity only 2025: varsity outlaw schedule 2026: join UIL district

District 10-5A-1 could lose as many as 6 schools out of 9 to 6A or 5A-D2. I'm not sure what would happen then. Shoudn't SB Spring Woods be on the 5A-6a bubble. 7A would be a disaster for those schools involved. There would have to be a mixture of very big districts and very small districts and in many cases extreme travel.

For many schools, I'm waiting for the 2022 tea enrollment figures to drop before I place them.

What is going on with Witchita that they are opening 2 schools and closing 3? Scared admin/board had to walk a tight rope trying to get a bond passed. Couldn't drop Hirschi and build new for the other 2. Couldn't merge Rider/Hirschi into a campus and build a new WFHS. So they decided to close all 3 and build 2 new schools. Seems like a very, very big waste of tax payer $$$

They really needed updated high school campuses.
