NS is going to play hell replacing this guy. He is one of the absolute best that has ever worn a whistle!

NS is going to play hell replacing this guy. He is one of the absolute best that has ever worn a whistle! They replaced him the next day with his OC. He was a QB for NS that went on to play DB at the university of Houston and has been on Coach Kays Staff since 2016... I think. His Name is Willie Gaston.

I've no doubt he is a good man and probably a good coach but he is stepping into GIANT shoes there with what Kay did with NS as a program. They are as elite as they get in this state right now for sure.

Both with the Freshman QB who missed his Sophomore season with injury and Last year with the WR at QB. I don't think there will be much drop off If any. Haven't heard of any other coaches leaving the Staff.

No doubt he is a talented coach but only time will tell if he can keep awesome program level to where it is. Kay built NS into an absolute monster. Not all have that knack to be a great HC like Kay was.

I agree with Clem on this. Any time you replace a guy like Kay, no matter who they hire, it's hard to fill those shoes. Much like Campbell with Danaher, you are replacing a legend at that school. People are going to expect the exact same thing even though they are not the exact same person.
Even if the program thrives, and continues dominance over everyone, people are going to be hypercritical of any kind of change due to that particular coach's way. Even if that change is a good change, critics will always say "well that's not how so-and-so did it."
Now in saying that after several years of titles, and showing those changes made the program even better, the critics go away, and the next coach gets compared to this guy. He's definitely a great coach, and I hope he has a career of success there.

It is no different than having a great player who does unbelievable things and then he has a little brother coming up in a few years. No matter how good that little brother is he is never going to live up to big brother unless he is even better! And not all great coordinators are going to be great head coaches!

Hard to replace? The worse Coach in the state could have won a state title with that roster. Way too much automatic respect is given to some of these coaches from up that way.

Sure Chino Previous 50 years before John Kay GP North shore won 1 title. 9 years since he took over the program they have won 5. Sorry, but the talent didn't just move in to North Shore the last 9 seasons! He is one hell of a coach that knows how to run a program and get everything out of his kids. Show me another HC that sends a 5 star running back home the night before a title game! Try harder

The PREVIOUS Coach took a scrub GPNS program that only had 1 playoff appearance and only 7 winning seasons in it's entire history and himself took them to TWENTY STRAIGHT PLAYOFF APPEARANCES including a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP and 9 different seasons of only 1 loss. Now THAT'S a Coach I can give respect to. So that's what Kay inherited. You left those stats out. Put Kay on a scrub program and have him turn it around and then you can give him all that praise. Try harder.

Aymond (previous coach) definitely was good, Kay was GREAT. He took what Aymond built to a completely other level that very, very few programs in this state get to.

Apparently not if he inherited a garbage program with only 1 playoff appearance and only 7 winning seasons in it's entire history. Like I said, put Kay on Progresso and guess what... Progresso is still Progresso and not winning 5 state titles. Try again. Harder.
