It's really nice seeing schools other than the Allen's, Katy's, and such get better facilities. Who cares if they are these college looking or nfl looking grand stand monsters... just give the kids something to be proud of! I hate when adults decide kids don't deserve nice things. Again, not these ridiculous ones, just nice facilities to be proud of. That goes for Band, theater, athletics, academics, FFA and any other thing they could be involved in. Give them the tools and facilities to be proud of and to succeed. It can change a kid's life!

This never would have happened without the revenue generated by the industry that been built in the area in the last couple decades. The old Ag barn and facility that was situated on the east side of 181 was demolished because new retail development and new housing was encroaching on that area. Last week GP ISD had the ribbon cutting on the new AG barn and facilities for the use and training for our youth in FFA and other AG related activities. Activity like what’s happening at GP just doesn’t happen. The Supt, school board and members of the planning committee work together together to plan and get things done. There are many others that also put their time and effort and never get acknowledged. Kudos to those good people who choose to make our schools and community better.

TM is seeing that as well with a great Supt. being in place there. TM has seen much needed improvements to all their schools and facilities with this Supt.. Now GP is getting their improvements like they deserve. If the other smaller schools in the area would get leadership in place to do the same, Coastal Bend schools would see some amazing changes in the attitudes and school pride.

Seguin is also building new baseball and softball facilities on campus also. Good for those kids. It is really nice to see Seguin actually competing very well again in most sports! Their boys track team just got 2nd in the 5a regional finals this past weekend and won the 4x100 & 4x200 relays. 1) Boerne CHampion 2) Seguin 3) Flour Bluff 4) Wagner 5) Alamo Heights 6) Pioneer 7) Smithson Valley 8) Rouse 9) CC Vets Memorial 9) Liberty Hill 9) Roma 9) SA SW Legacy

SV has some really fast relays, and for Pioneer to overtake them in regionals is a great thing for those kids. The top 5 don't surprise me, they could really finish in any order on any given day with those 5 track teams. State is going to be tough, though, for region 4. Two of the fastest teams in the country coming out of region 2 setting all kinds of records.

Very true.... not much of a chance anymore for any region other than region 2.... Man I can remember the days when Carl Lewis was still an Olympian and he'd host his meet in Houston. He'd have high school, college, and pros there.... man there were some burners on the track! It was so impressive to see the Olympic relay team run with him on it! But what was great was you got to see teams from all over the state early on, and it made you better and made the state meet more competitive...
