Pico you left out of but I understand what you are saying. It is a great place to fish and that may be why Country singer George Strait parks his million dollar yacht over there. The town has a lot of retirees and Winter Texans in the winter. They have a shopping mall now and don't have to travel to Corpus to shop. The Rockport Airport is busy for a small town. You never know what Country Singer you will meet on the street there. great restaurants. There is no telling how many Football coaches go fishing there off season. Hire a Veteran Head Coach who is near retirement to coach your Junior High players. I have a relative there that parks his boat at his backdoor dock. Rockport has had some pretty good teams in the past. They produced a player for the Dallas Cowboys one time. Dat Nguyen... first Vietnamese player in the NFL. Played against him when he was a freshman at Rockport. He broke our center's at TM's leg on a blitz. What was crazy was our center couldn't feel anything from the waste down due to nerve damage so he didn't feel it, he just knew he couldn't stand up.... Dat was one hell of a player.... He was one of my favorite linebackers I grew up idolizing when he was playing for A&M, I’m not a Cowboys fan but I would see his play at linebacker

It was my understanding they did this exact same thing to the coach that turned them around in the late 90’s/early 2000’s. Gary Autry. He did a solid job in his time & they haven’t recovered from Hollinger to Bible as coach since

any local ADs in those final 3? Bitner isn’t a AD he’s a Asst Coordinator at Vets. It would suck to have to replace a HC so close to the end of the school year. No offseason to work and get to know your own team. The end of the school year is less than a month away. School coaches can’t coach 7on7 during the summer. Just very little time left to start up your own program.

Am I missing something? What makes this job so appealing? Sure there's the beach but is that all? There's a new superintendent who came from a private school in the Dallas area. (Pro- vouchers) Siebert changed schools in his sons senior year. No one ever does that. Not to mention going to a really bad Sweeny team. The fan base isn't exactly rabid. They ran off the previous coach so evidently, they meddle. So what's the deal?

It might be a fan jumping the gun. I don't think interviews have even happened so I don't see how they can already have a top 3.
The Castellano thing was just a rumor. Maybe someone wanting to f with me? But it can't be that because I never even mentioned Castellano's name and yet everyone was saying it in the comments and in here like they were also told the same bad info.

Rockport has a special meeting on May 7th to consider the applicants and consider the approval to hire the next HC/AD at Rockport ISD.

They got a really good one. I have no idea who even applied, but who ever it is he needs to get ironclad assurances from the Supt that he runs the athletic program. That’s why Siebert left, too much interference from the new Supt.

The past Supt was my wife’s cousin Joey Patek who retired and now lives in Shiner. I talk to Joey a few times a year usually at a wedding or a funeral, too damn many of the latter. Joey still talks with Siebert occasionally, usually a school or UIL related conversation. Siebert left because of that Supt wanting to interfere in his sports program and reduced funding for athletics. I don’t see Siebert staying at Sweeney very long now that his son is graduating. I know nothing about the coach who just quit, but no coach wants a over eager Supt wanting to impose in his programs.

That dude didn't leave because of a meddling Super. It was his son's senior year. He knew RF was gonna be horrible this season so he left. I don't have inside info but I have common sense. If RF was predicted to be outstanding in 2023 you think that dude leaves still? Not a chance. RF was predicted last by Dave Campbell's in 2023.
