I'd take Denton Ryan over Richland but we'll see. I feel like Ryan's the better team, but of the 4 wins between those two teams, I think Richland's win over Colleyville Heritage is the one that stands out. Richland led 36-0 at the beginning of the 4th. We'll see over the next few weeks how good it turns out that Timberview is this year. If #5 is out for several games, you concerned with #8 running the show?

What's disappointing would be to lose the opportunity for #5 to grow into the role in time to take on Ryan and later Richland. #8 seemed to do fine vs Lancaster, but I'm assuming we'll have to do more than run it vs Ryan, and that we'd slot #5 back in at QB once healthy. He'd be healthy but with that much less experience starting. Have you heard that he's out for a while?

Radio broadcast Friday night said he was out as a precaution, back against Brewer.

Both quality players that need experience. I do think winning district matters so we can avoid Abilene in the 2nd round and Richland in the 3rd.

Ryan offense is not good, QB, OLine, and RB…all lack pop. Richland is good offensively, and not terrible defensively. I really don’t see a problem with winning district..and which ever playoff path that eventually takes, doesn’t matter who in region 1 the bearcats play, they will have a tough time keeping up with Aledo. QB1 will be dropping dimes, once footing gets established.

Guyer was better defensively, slightly..Lancaster was better offensively..both had exceptional O/D lines. Bearcats will not play a team better than the teams they just played the remainder of the season. By the time playoffs start, the Bearcat Defense will be viciously good

We would have beat Guyer had we just kicked the ball out the back of the end zone at the end of the half rather than try to get cute. What were we trying to avoid, a 75 yard Hail Mary with 4 seconds left?

But if they learned their lesson and we continue to play like we did against Lancaster on special teams, December football is in our future.

That's why Aledo is correct in prioritizing tough non-district games over a 2-0 start. I'm feeling pretty good right now, it's all about minimizing injuries, and trying to get the passing game and the secondary locked in prior to Ryan. Seems to me the special teams problem is already fixed. I'd be sad to see the district win streak end, but even then I wouldn't at all think that knocks us out of state championship contention.

So far I've not watched anyone that's concerned me the way Longview did the past two seasons. Yeah a handful of teams are going to be really good but they aren't some juggernaut we can't beat. If this is our starting point, we are a top 10 team in the state regardless of classification come December.

ETA: Yeah and we lucked out last year avoiding Longview because they had injuries and Lancaster beat them. And the year before was the best 56 seconds of football I've ever waited 3 hours for lol

That's why the 119 game (hopefully 120 tonight) district win streak is so crazy. If you had a 99% chance of winning every single district game, odds are the streak would be over already. Crazy.
