Watched Lancaster vs North Crowley. I think next week is going to be more difficult than the 1st. Good news is we can fix some of our issues in a short time frame. Bad news is Lancaster's passing game is better than Guyer's. Bearcat DLine will eat the Lancaster OLine..the line play in that game was horrible, both teams in that game..but, they have the athletes to compensate for sure.

We need to put pressure on their skill players before they get going. I dont think we are as fast as last year which could be trouble.

Dline looks good tonight. Special teams cleaned up. Lancaster is a good team, let's finish strong in the 2nd half!

Halftime
Aledo 19 Lancaster 6
Our special teams looks much better. Starting QB is out so we are going with a sophomore QB and he is doing good considering this is his first varsity start! The defense is playing very well. Oddly enough Lancaster hasnt tried stretching the field like I thought they would. Biggest concern is our starting center got hurt and we are running with the backup right now. Hope the kid is ok.

Our dline has been getting pressure, which I think hasn't given them as much time to stretch the field as they'd like. What happened to Beard, is he hurt? I hadn't heard that. How bad is #72 hurt, have you heard anything?

Center was out of pads but able to walk on his own so hopefully they were being cautious. Honestly both backups played well and earned it tonight! You saw a lot of quality depth tonight. You can tell we were right on the line for 6A.

Final
Aledo 37 Lancaster 27
Without a doubt a massive improvement on special teams. We even made a 46 yard field goal. Offense did great on the ground considering Lancaster was playing the run all night. They dared Aledo to pass and we were like, na, we'll keep running it. Defense play another solid game against a good 6A team. I really think they will be the reason why we have a chance to play in December!!

I think they announced it as a 47 yard FG for #47 in the stadium! Defense was great. Super happy to see special teams playing well. I figured the problems from last week were fixable.

On to district play. The most relevant games on the schedule are 10/4 vs Ryan and 10/25 vs Richland, but in particular Ryan. Ryan always gives us trouble, and they look good this year, though it's tough to know for sure, because they didn't play really tough non distinct opponents. MaxPreps has them nationally ranked, for whatever that's worth. But you may remember that Ryan had the lead AND the ball last year with 3 mins left in the 4th. And the prior year Ryan had it tied 21-21 in the 4th. I believe they'll be the toughest opponent we will face all year, including the playoffs. Except that I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Guyer is better than Ryan, and Lancaster may be about the same. If that's true, Ryan's going to need us to make mistakes like we did in the Guyer game, or have some key injuries. But it's too early to say, and Ryan is the closest thing there is to Aledo kryptonite in the last few years, so anything can happen.

I watched them vs a good Timberview and they dominated. We really need to get our passing game going. Hard to beat good teams with just the run.

Denton Ryan’s Defense may be pretty good, but their offense is mediocre at best..Richland is a better team.

I feel like Ryan's the better team, but of the 4 wins between those two teams, I think Richland's win over Colleyville Heritage is the one that stands out. Richland led 36-0 at the beginning of the 4th. We'll see over the next few weeks how good it turns out that Timberview is this year.
