i give props for miller for scheduling desoto. i really think desoto did their homework on miller and said sure y not. big time schools dont have to travel far to find good match ups. so pretty cool deal that he said yes to evans. i watched the poscast of South texas football unlimited and evans gave a good reponse of y he tries to get at least one big game a year. Now on Alice: I feel like alice definitely got screwed but ill talke some travel for a better district games then the past 2 years. i also like the beginning of our non district opponents. i know carroll isnt the best but they r improved and a way better matchup the king of last year. i would of liked a game against an opponent from north of sa or a sa team before la joya but o well. i hope the boys r training hard and focused. gonna need more depth this year and find some players and leaders. Don’t sleep on Carroll. Yes even the 2024 version. Being game 1, not really sure what to expect. But I fully believe by the end of the season, Carroll will be a handful for any local team. You said that this last season and they took a step back... because like I said, the better season you had in 2022 was still the previous coach's players and he would have also won with them. But no, you were quick to act like Carroll found the next Bill Belichick. I can appreciate that you have a kid playing and are not gonna see things clearly so I'm here to tell you that Carroll will still be Carroll - Modern Carroll not Coach Slaughter era Carroll.

Agreed! I technically didn’t expect this turnout at all, we all know that coaches can do so much to get a competitive non district schedule. La Joya seriously doesn’t get me amazed at all In the interview I saw, Castellano fully expected to be in the CCISD/GP district… and therefore scheduled games accordingly. When Alice got dumped into the valley district, he was stuck trying to find another 3-4 games. All games were eaten up locally. But luckily (or strategically), he sent a coach to the valley district drop. Because that coach was there, Alice was able to pick up a game against La Joya. Had there been no Alice representative down south at that meeting…. The Yotes would have had a much more difficult time trying to fill that game… and may not have found a game until the absolute leftover of leftovers were available somewhere around the State. No they would not have had a much more difficult time. The same way they sent someone down South they could have sent someone somewhere there was better opponents. There was teams up North looking for games week 4, 5 and 6 also not just down South. San Benito has Carthage scheduled week 6.

It was a step backwards whether you want to admit it or not. You finished 5-5 both seasons but in 2022 only 3 of the losses were complete blowout losses. In 2023 all 5 losses were complete blowout losses. As far as you projecting District titles coming because of a freshman team good luck with that. Alice is probably even with Calallen in wins at the freshmen level over the last 30 years. How did that translate to the Varsity level? Alice only has 3 wins. And as hard as it is to project a freshman team's future in Alice it's even harder in Corpus where all your kids are allowed to transfer and play wherever they want. The only reason you have a chance at the playoffs this coming season is because Alice and Victoria West didn't get stuck in your district like we thought they were and so Miller and G-P are the only good teams in your district.

Luckily, Alice is on the schedule. We’ll see what’s up. No use in arguing with someone from Alice... Yeah it makes more sense to argue with a parent of a team that hasn't been relevant in 30 years and is somehow now going to be a powerhouse just because a dad is willing it.

Carroll took a step back last year. West, East, and Vets all lost a lot from the previous year. I fully expected Carroll to be more competitive in those games. However they lost those game by more than the year before. Carroll has a good coaching staff that is committed to the players and the program. What this tells me is that it’s the athletes. Carroll will have a good junior and sophomore class next year. They’ll make the playoffs next year by default of a weak district. All the good programs are able to develop their underclassmen. Carroll will be forced again to throw theirs into the fire early. Haha STBS, be nice bro you go for the jugular every time. lol. Let’s be honest Alice didn’t beat a very good Calallen team last year.

I agree that Carroll’s 2022 starters would have rolled Carroll’s 2023 starters by about 3-4 td’s, maybe even 5. 2024? I think the player quality will be back close to 2022 quality. Still not quite as good, but better than 2023 quality. 2022 wins a matchup with 2024 by about 3-7 points.

You don’t know the kids at Miller if you believe it will demoralize them. These are inner city kids and there is a saying amongst the kids of “We want the smoke”. They are not going to run from this they are going to bust there butts preparing for there moment. Many of them are being recruited and it’s an opportunity to perform against elite talent. We all know they will most likely lose however competing against Desoto is going to be a badge of honor or them. It’s hard to understand if you are not from the community or spend time around them. This approach may not be good for all schools but it’s definitely a positive for Miller. I never said they were going to run from it. What team would? Most kids that play football don't run from any challenge in front of them no matter how tall the task is. It will not be a positive if they lose a player or two in this game to a serious injury because they are outsized and outclassed at literally every position on the field. Like I said before, scheduling a really good R4 6a team or even a state power in 5a would make some sense, this does not

With big bodies and pancakes happening, it’s easy to get rolled up on without even seeing it coming. And of course, huge sacks and slams to the ground are always a worry with overmatched lines.

This is what I'm talking about Miller will absolutely not have single player advantage at a single position. NOT 1

Did the home and away schedule get released yet? We know the who and when, just not the where.

I'm not anti-Carroll but this dude and his ridiculous claims are gonna have Carroll getting trolled until his kid graduates and the dad isn't over the top anymore. Sure it wasn't 1995 Calallen but they did blowout Flour Bluff so people need to stop acting like it just flat out wasn't a good Calallen team. Leaving Calallen out of it Alice still beat a very talented Lampasas team and that tells me they're headed in the right direction. Had Alice not been without its 2 MVPs for the Calhoun game they would have been in round 4 at least.
