why is it so difficult for the citizens of Alice to understand the city needs a new stadium? were they under the impression the stadium was going to last forever? Alice needs 50mil for the stadium period. the only thing left is to decide where and seating capacity. school taxes will increase but it is what it is. In simple terms, there's an old rich guy in Alice that has a lot of influence and he uses it to push his narratives and his followers eat it all up and get online and repeat his nonsense.

GP doesn't fill their stadium but Alice would be a good fit for playoff games . Some teams use Javelina stadium. G-P has a good sized Home side bleachers. Not filling it every single week isn't necessarily a negative thing.

Chino, u seem to be knowable abt Alice football. During that great run they had losing only to lake Travis, what is the story behind the coaches and the DC/OC? I actually attended that game at the Alamodome that day. Alice was very much in that game until the middle of the third quarter. But I never did get the full story. I heard the OC/DC were brothers and left after that season. Just if u have a few minutes before all the superbowl programming starts at 1pm.

I just think it's maybe one of those things that a rumor took on a life of it's own. Davis got a big ass pay raise going to San Angelo Central and leaving a program after only being there a few years was his thing anyway. It's what he did. San Angelo Central is the only place he stayed at longer than 4 years and that's probably because he was from around there I think. You can't convince me the Alice school board intentionally pushed out a coach that had literally just won Alice it's 1st district championship in 23 years.

Well I've said this story many times over as well I was there when he told us himself. They pushed him out when he asked for a $10,000 raise. One current school board member was the main idiot behind that move. So believe it or not I had first had experience under both coaches. Now look how everything fell into place. All three teams should have bright futures (Alice, Beeville and GP).Now back to the bond. We get to vote on a $38 million bond in may

What is the main objection to the bond. I know the stadium has a lot of memories and is unique but it’s time to upgrade in my opinion. Failure yo grow is the death of most Successful people and organizations.

agree. a new stadium would be a great investment for the city of Alice. one with nice restrooms, proper parking, better lighting and increased capacity. maybe even a sports complex like the one in Laredo. The old one can be refurbished into a soccer/track field. replace the stands with lower capacity aluminum ones and built new restrooms. I know things are not as simple as I imagine them but there are good options.

Failure yo grow is the death of most Successful people and organizations. Alice got hit hard by the last oil bust. Haliburton, Baker Hughes, a few others moved out of town up to the Permian Basin and San Antonio areas. And you can tell driving around town the city infrastructure has taken a hit and although the ISD has nothing to do with that, in the mind of some voters they tie in school projects and those tax dollars with things like streets, etc. which the city has control over and use it as a counter point to oppose something like a stadium. I'm sure some see the stadium as a "want" and not a "need" although having a stadium that is on verge of being condemned or declared unsafe seems to put in the "needs" category on top of what do you tell your football, soccer and track kids they won't have a stadium to compete in until further notice if the bond fails and the current stadium is declared unsafe.
