I thought it was funny that I think they left out two of our best players, #4 and #8. Many here have recognized how good Duffey is! He is a great player for sure. #4 will need a big game this week. They will need several players to step up if RB #26 is out. You hate to hear that this close to their 1st title!

Give me Aledo in this one. Normally, I wouldn't cheer for the DFW team. But since it's Smithson Valley, I will, as a proud RGV native, gladly make an exception. Destroy them, Aledo. Why would you want the team that destroyed Brownsville Vets to then get blown out? That would just make your team look worse. I always root for the team that beats my home team. My home team perennially loses semi competitive games to Smithson Valley. But I guess we are all different. So you believe if Aledo destroys SV that would make BVM and the RGV look better than if SV played them toe to toe or even upset Aledo? I read all your other statements and while I agree there are a few SA area fans that talk smack about the RGV you need to realize that is a very small percentage. It is no different than the smack Austin, Houston, and DFW talk about all of R4, and more specifically, the SA area. That smack talked to SA area teams from them is deserved and if we want to change it we need to do something about it on the field. We didn't change that this week with my team laying a big egg in the semis and getting whooped on. So, guess what.......that narrative didn't change at all this year. I believe most knowledgeable hsfb fans from SA know that each year there are a select few RGV teams that are good. But until the RGV teams start winning a larger percentage of matchups against the SA area than what they have the past 30 years, the narrative will remain the same.

I do not disagree at all. 26 is a solid little RB that has really stepped up his game in the playoffs. Though the other RBs are solid, they are not in his league. That freshman they rolled out in the 2nd half last week is going to be a beast but he is not ready for what Aledo will bring defensively.

This is our first meeting to my knowledge, so to trailcat point, its nice playing someone unfamiliar. We dont have a good idea how each other play. But come Friday night. We will find out!

Aledo will without a doubt hold a substantial advantage offensively. I think both defenses are lights out great. The key for SV to be able to hang tough for a full 48 minutes and have a chance at the upset is that their offense moves the ball well enough to keep their defense rested and to swap field position and make Aledo go long distances to score. I honestly see only 1 advantage for SV and that is special teams play so for them to win they have to keep it very close and the defense rested so that they can get a big time stop at the end of the game to give themselves a chance to win. I also believe for SV to win they will need to be +2 in turnovers. I am pulling big for SV but I know enough that they will have to absolutely play their best game of the year to get a win.

So similar game plan to the College Station game? Their punter was lights out to start the game. I think he punted the ball to the 1 yard line and the 3 or 4 yard line early on. Made CS drive the entire field! That was really impressive!

For anyone wondering, SV will be the home team. Also the officiating crew will be out of Houston. I think Matt Stepp tweeted that but dont remember.

Aledo played Calallen my senior year and that was a tough 1 score game up till the end. Would have been story book for Calallen to win that title but they went up against the only team that could beat them that year. They were really punching up because I believe Aledo had nearly 400 kids advantage on them. What school did you go to? My little brother was a junior on that Calallen team. Wow that game was a classic! Calallen was solid, especially their QB, and I think they led every category except the score. From my perspective, three plays made the difference for Aledo in that game. 1. Cal intercepted a pass but fumbled it back on the return. Aledo scored a few plays later. 2. A high kickoff that Cal muffed and Aledo recovered and scored several plays later. 3. The Aledo's freshman RB breaking free down the sidelines and barely getting in for a 50+ yard TD. The freshman is now finishing up his college career at Alabama. I still root for Calallen. "Cat From Way Back" always had the best comments' and it was best to stay on his good side.

Aledo has recovered an onside/pooch kick in back-to-back games.

He's always in the middle of those plays. If it wasn't for #3, I could argue he's our defensive MVP. He has no fear and loves to hit.

Same type of player. 100 miles an hour and hits anything that moves. Gotta love playing with guys like that on defense!

I like watching the highlights to see their full potential. Plus it is less time consuming. What do you look like when you are at your best. Unfortunately not nearly as good as 25-30 years ago! Hate when the body says you can't do this boy. But my pride says oh yes you can. That is when serious injuries happen.
