Final
Aledo 51 Smithson Valley 8
Oddly enough the game played out like our season. Slow start, turnover, great defense, then offense woke up and got rolling.

Curious what others think the best teams Aledo played in the playoffs? I have #1 Lubbock Cooper #2 Red Oak and #3 Shoemaker. Thoughts? I still call SV as the best team they played. If you go that logic, then Denton Ryan is better than any of those teams, and we know that’s not the case. Aledo is as good as I knew they could be. Last years College Station was a good foreshadowing of Aledo at an A+ performance What a team! Congrats to the Bearcats.

Does anyone know the total offense for SV. Some are reporting 69 total yards. No way that is true?

Denton Ryan by far played the most competitive game against Aledo this year. Ryan simply lost to Abilene due to the injury of their star player in the first half.

Aledo is a lot slower without #9. But I still give them the advantage with speed. Special teams for Aledo continues to live up to their reputation. Still have lots of respect for SV. You have much to be proud of. Continue to make the other side of the bracket more competitive. I want a Duncanville vs North Shore type of final. SV has the potential and 6a pedigree. Just need to build on this year’s success! Tbf DeSoto is going to wreck everyone next two years. Congrats with another championship. Cherish this one. You're right, and we will. Game planning for DeSoto starts tomorrow, but I'm afraid it won't be nearly enough.

Does anyone know the total offense for SV. Some are reporting 69 total yards. No way that is true? That's got to be about right. It was 55 yards at the end of the third when they flashed the official stats up on Jerry's video board. SV only had one drive after that, and I think 14 yards is about right. I believe they just barely got a first down on that drive.

* with the exception of Denton Guyer. Technically I think Ryan came closer to beating us. They had the ball on our side of the field with the lead and 3 mins left in the 4th IIRC. Guyer never led that late, especially lead + control of the ball.

But still, they had the lead and were driving with 4 mins left in the game.

Denton Ryan by far played the most competitive game against Aledo this year. Ryan simply lost to Abilene due to the injury of their star player in the first half. Denton Ryan also split games vs New Braunfels, a very mid tier San Antonio area team. Ultimately, I think SV pissed off Aledo after that first quarter, and then unleashed themselves on the Rangers. They weren’t giving SV any chance of taking that game.

Very similar to last year, I dont think the score reflects how good Smithson Valley was. If they connect on a couple of those long throws then that would have helped them out. The SV defense played tough at the beginning but eventually got worn down. Aledo was able to connect on their own throws and really loosened up the defense for our RB. For SV the start of the game was perfect, other than the fact you had to settle for field goals instead of touchdowns. When you have the opportunity to jump on Aledo, you have to convert those chances. Great season by SV! Nothing really surprised me other than SV having to burn some timeouts because the offense was about to get a delay of game. They were as advertised, great special teams, defense created turnovers, and offense used the playaction and took shots downfield. Obviously they missed their starting RB but I'm not sure how much the result would have changed. Good luck moving forward!

Curious what others think the best teams Aledo played in the playoffs? I have #1 Lubbock Cooper #2 Red Oak and #3 Shoemaker. Thoughts? My initial thought is Lubbock Cooper, they played Aledo the best. Does Abilene, Forney, or Smithson Valley have bad games against Lubbock Cooper? I think they play with much more confidence and who knows what the results would be. But if I had to pick a state champ, based off of the results from the Aledo games, I think Lubbock Cooper does win state if they had upset Aledo. Lubbock Cooper was very physical and had explosive playmakers at multiple positions. If you did a round robin of all the teams Aledo played in the playoffs, this is how I think it would turn out. #1 Lubbock Cooper #2 Red Oak #3 Forney #4 Smithson Valley #5 Abilene #6 Killeen Shoemaker
