Tivy played Davenport earlier in the year and beat them and we ended up not being great. Y'all can beat them just have to get some turnovers.

Calhoun Triple Option vs Davenport Pass Happy Offense? Calhoun has the advantage if they can use the clock & the offensive line to open holes for Campos & Co to their advantage …. To the boys in the Victoria Crossroads area in Port Lavaca ….. Give Davenport HELL Pass happy? They are about as balanced an offense as you will find Davenport Offense this year: 393 pass plays with 239 completions for 3813 yards, 43 TDs & 8 INTs 434 rushes for 2710 yards & 38 TDs 6523 total yards Run 52.5% of the time with 41.5% of their total yards and 47% of their TDs Pass 47.5% of the time with 58.5% of their total yards and 53% of their TDs PLC offense this year: 42 pass plays with 23 completions for 537 yards, 4 TDs & 3 INTs 574 rushes for 4396 yards & 58 TDs 4933 total yards Run 93.2% of the time with 89.1% of their total yards and 93.5% of their TDs Pass 6.8% of the time with 10.9% of their total yards and 6.5% of their TDs

Tivy played Davenport earlier in the year and beat them and we ended up not being great. Y'all can beat them just have to get some turnovers. Tivy picked them apart for sure and put up almost 500 total yards on them with nearly 400 of that passing! Taylor actually threw for well over 400 on them to. Davenport's defense is not real good IMO this year. They've allowed 25 ppg average to their 13 opponents and 7 of the 13 teams they've played have put up 28 or more on them. And it is not just the pass defense either as they've allowed some big games running the ball as well to Lockhart (364) and LV last week (184). PLC has only allowed 2 teams to get to 28 or more, Beeville (28) & Zapata (36). I definitely think PLC is going to have success running it on them. I also believe PLC has the better defense of the two. So in a nutshell I think for PLC to win this game they need to stay right with them from the start and just not get down by more than a score or two early so that they do not have to start chasing and doing things they are not built for. I went looking for stats and found that the Alice offensive stats from last week were not there for PLC game and the Burnet games for both teams were also missing. Beeville's offensive stats were there versus PLC but not versus Davenport. So, it'd be difficult to really compare the defensive stats for both these teams against their common opponents. Of the 9 teams each has faced that did enter their offensive stats in Maxpreps, below is what stands out. Please keep in mind that for PLC the 4 teams that didn't enter offensive stats are Pleasanton, R-F, Burnet, & Alice. For Davenport the 4 teams that didn't enter stats were Canyon Lake, Burnet, Marble Falls, & Beeville. PLC allowed only 2 teams 400+ yards - Yoakum and Zapata Dav allowed 5 teams with 400+ yards - VW, Tivy, Lockhart, TAylor, & LV PLC allowed under 300 total yards in 3 games - Stafford, West Oso, & LV Dav allowed under 300 total yards in 2 games - Devine & Fredericksburg PLC defense avg in the 9 games stats were available for gave up an average of 170 yards passing, 1.3 TDs per game, .8 INTs per game, 143 yards rushing per game on an avg of 5.6 ypc and 19.2 points per game. Dav defense avg in the 9 games stats were available for gave up an average of 243 yards passing, 1.8 TDs per game, .6 INTs per game, 139 yards rushing per game on an avg of 4.7 ypc and 26.2 points per game.

Tepper picks Calhoun over Davenport. Could be the KOD. He hasn't picked them until now.

[br I just saw this is think after yesterdays show and seeing that Calhoun beat Alice.I think he’s looking at Davenports defense and how their not super strong and he’s looking at how Calhoun controls the clock when they have the ball.First time I think he has ever picked Calhoun to win LOL.

Scary part about playing PLC is let them go up 7-14 pts and they have the ball with one of their long clock eating drives.

I’ve talked to a Calhoun player about THOOSE clock eating drives and he said that Calhoun when they get up 14 point against a strong offense they will purposely put in plays that only get around 3ypc to run that clock.

No doubt about it Antlers And I think this is the exact recipe PLC needs to use to win this game. Get a couple stops early and score on Davenport and get up 14 and then just absolutely grind out each and every drive taking 6 minutes plus off the clock on each drive. If they can do this and limit Davenport to 7 or 8 possessions the entire game and get stops on 3 or 4 of them, they will win the game!

Sorry....I will have to disagree. Yes, the clock can become an issue vs a team that depends on the run, but Davenport can score in one play. I'll be taking the team that can score quickly vs. any run-heavy team in this one. The clock will NOT become an issue for Davenport, but could become an issue for the Calhoun offense. I see Davenport winning this game by 2 TDs. I think Davenport would have a more difficult task defending against a more balanced attack that would have the ability to score more quickly. To my thinking, this matchup favors Davenport more than PLC.

Davenport's Coach Z faced Calhoun in 2019 with Boerne Champion (He was the OC). For that game, BC was told over and over that Calhoun was bigger on the lines, couldn't stop the run etc etc. It was a back-and-forth game in the 1st half, however, they were significantly slower than BC across the board. BC scored and moved the ball with ease due to speed. BC knew coming in they just had to get 1 or 2 stops on D, which they did and took it from there to win by 10. Score could have been higher but fumbled going into the endzone late in the game. Man....Calhoun fans sure turned out for that game, impressive #s.
That was then......maybe no similarities to these teams. I haven't watched any film on either. Calhoun's playoff run is impressive and have admired them since that game. BC missed Coach Z big time after he left (2020), huge gaping hole in leadership (now finally filled this past season)

They will grind and lean on that defense ...but I see your point cause it has happened before to Calhoun where they needed to score quickly.

BC game could have easily gone the other way as well for sure. In reality, the game really came down to around 2 BC stops. That was the difference.
