I'm certainly pulling for FB here and hope and pray that the officials call the game correctly and enforce the 1 second set rule when LH is on offense! They get away with false starts in every game IMO. FB will win this game if the run D steps up for them!! Pieper gave the best example of how to stop LH's run game but it's no easy task. No doubt the FB coaches have been earning their teachers pay in the classroom and the practice facilities. The D has to ignore the football slight of hand eye candy and stay on their assigned place and person any one of which can end up dealt the ball. Agreed Pieper did defend it as well as it can be defended by doing just this. I think the biggest thing is having a D Line that can stand up that offensive line and NOT let them get a 2-3 yard push. Once that D Line gets moved backwards off the ball, even a small amount it allows them move the ball very, very methodically and efficiently and wear people out!

May the fleas of a thousand camels invade your arm pits. A pox on you I say. Johnny Carson? I think it was a movie quote.

Keep chipping away Bluff Rats! Bluff Rats gonna win this game. Mark it down. LH is healthy now, but they don’t have the defense to stop FB.

I’m interested in FB’s D against the run. Last year LH was without two starting RBs. The two remaining starters (QB & FB) combined for 380+ yards and 8 TDs. LH may be down a RB to play QB this week if the starting QB cannot go. FB found out what doesn’t work and I’ve seen they had some difficulty against run heavy teams this year. Pieper’s D will be hard to mimic because of the personnel they had. Their LBs were straight up studs and their team tackling was elite.

LH isn't as good as last year especially on defense and I would expect FB to be able to have a big day passing the ball. But they will still pound the rock. I think the key will be FB run defense in this game. For the first time in forever, have some concerns about their running game. Hard to understand how it can be struggling with elite senior backs, 3 year starts like Long and Pitchford. A couple years ago they just barely lost to South Oak Cliff in the SC game when these backs were sophomores. I think they can win this week, but if they don't pick it up quickly, don't see how they can get past Alamo Heights or Pieper. They've always been lousy at pass defense, so I don't fully understand why they've been stuck in the mud all season.

Looking at the rushing stats this year vs last year for LH it looks like they are averaging about 415 per game on the ground this year whereas last year it was about 453. So there definitely is a drop off of about 38 yards per game. It also looks like the average per carry last year was just over 10 yards per carry to 8.2 ypc this season. I would say that the total rushing yards is probably down in part to the defense being not quite as good as years past and the offense not getting as many opportunities but the average per carry definitely says the offense isn't as good running it either. Maybe it is a case where the competition just stepped up their game more and is defending it a bit better. I do see where LH has thrown it 2X as much this year as last season. But that is still only 45 total pass plays for 2023 and only completing about 25% of those throws.

For Liberty Hill, a majority of the season two of the three running backs have been out with injuries. The starting quarterback has also been out for most of the season. When they did get one of the backs healthy, he had to step in for the quarterback. It has just been a tough season, injury wise, for the Panthers this year. But that’s part of the game of football, and every team has similar stories.

I would think the O that LH runs would be tough on Full Backs, QBs and RBs getting hit every play running as if they're carrying the ball.

He's getting hit on every play or he's blocking linebackers. At this point of the season most teams are dealing with injuries either minor or major.

FB has show that they’re susceptible to the run. So LH is going to get theirs. I’d say 500 rushing sounds about right.
That said, FB has what it needs to win it… and I say they will.
Paluseo needs to play well. Welcome the spotlight, be the man you know you are. Your strong mind will be the difference in this game.
