GP cowbells after one offensive play! GP 21-0 after the 1st quarter. GP getting a little sloppy in the 2nd quarter. GP 35-3 at the half.

The season ends unfortunately next week for GP. Alamo Heights is no joke. GP played in a weak district with weak competition. Beat a bad Calallen team. And when did meet a complete team they were destroyed.

Interesting observation… Burbank was 2nd best in AH’s district. SA Vets just blew them out 56-0.
SA Vets was 3rd best in Pieper’s district.
Maybe, just maybe… AH hasn’t really played anyone.

For example, If all four teams in your district (1st-4th) win week one. Then you could say it was not as weak as other districts. Example: Miller, VE, VW, CCvets all win. A lot people said this was a weak district. Alice, Calallen, TM, - don’t remember fourth but Calallen and TM lost. Etc

Alamo Heights is the only remaining district representative. Edcouch-Elsa and Valley view lost. But Flour Bluff and GP both remain in the playoffs for their district.

Next week they play a familiar foe in AH which is again fielding a good team. All bets will of course be that AH will win, but GP will be there, where will Yoe be at next Friday? If GP comes out playing like they did last night the could pull off a stunner. But GP will be there, where will you be?

Any word on where the AH/GP game will be.?

GP has no say on who they play in the playoffs once district is over. Roma isn’t a terrible team that was 9-1 on the season. It was nice to see Juarez get that TD on his 18th birthday on his first play of the game. Finally GP came out in first Qtr playing physical aggressive football and it showed on the scoreboard. Now get ready for a good test next Friday. Dooms came out playing like he did last season. I did not know that he was injured most of the season with a shoulder blade injury. He played up to his potential last night and he did very well.

Might want to dig a little deeper into Alamo Heights… watch film and whatnot. It’s possible that they’re not quite the juggernaut they seem to be.
They are the last man standing in their district… and their district-mates all lost handily… #2 Burbank (9-1) got rolled.

AH is still a good team that is well coached and that hasn’t changed. Sure they lost some good players to graduation just like every team is Texas. The main question is they rebuild or reload?

They are the last man standing in their district… and their district-mates all lost handily… #2 Burbank (9-1) got rolled. In last years game with AH they were very successful in the passing game, where GP was not. GP was held to a season low on 3rd down conversions. In 2023 Davis intentionally wanted to improve the GP running game. The main purpose in doing that is to slowdown the tempo of the game with more ground pound runs, move the chains and long scoring drives. If you can sustain those drives, eat up the clock and keep the ball away from AH. Yes that’s easier said than done but if you can do it and limit their touches mixed in a few defensive stops you can beat teams like AH. It ain’t easy to do but it can be done and it happens next Friday night some folks will be shocked by the score.
