Keep your eye on the scoreboard thread Friday night and you just may find out. They are good enough that they beat Leander Glenn 62-0. You know, the same Glenn that beat Vic West the very next week 52-17. CP only beat Glenn 17-13. They also beat a pretty good Tivy team by 24 points and just whooped Lockhart by 4 TDs as well. I'd say they are hella good for a team in their 2nd year as a varsity program. Wouldn't you? Hopefully we will get to see GP line up against them in the playoffs this year. Let’s just say the way Cedar Park put up points in 2020, it was due to the OC and he left CP to take the SA Pieper HC job!! He also took several assistant coaches with him from both the Offense and Defense!! That’s a “Plug and Play” football program right there if the school and community are all in!

In theory and reality this ok. It only became an issue when in the last two minutes or so of 40 or more blow out a trick play or 50 yard bomb was thrown to put icing on top of multiple layers of icing on the cake. I worry about getting someone hurt late in a game especially when you have the game in the bag. Injuries are part of the game unfortunately. You never want to see a player get hurt, but playing starters for half the game for most of the season doesn't help a team down the road. Practices aren't what they used to be.

I agree with you but there is a calf rope moment where starters aren’t getting anything from staying in the game

So as a coach there are ways to protect starters, get them work, and still not run up a score. Certain teams, you can do that. Other teams, it's better to just get them out and keep them away from getting hurt. Some coaches will reach deep into the play book and call short yardage or lesser used plays to work on them with the starters. Giving them game time experience for it. It eats clock and let's the coach see what it might look like. With teams that we know are going to get chippy and try to take out the good players, but we know suck, we strike early and often, and get them out. Then we sub in the younger kids without targets and let them play and get that valuable experience. No need to risk an injury for a game that's in hand.

Pieper is probably the best team we have played against this year. LH was battling the injury bug early on here they are getting healthy. Both will be tough.

And let's just say he got the right gig. CISD has the $$$ and the support that it takes to build a very good program. When you think that he is getting kids that previously attended SV's middle schools you can bet the foundation was set there and the expectations for the parents and fans will be high! In only their 2nd year it'd surprise me a little if they can go into LH this week and get the win for an undefeated district title or make a run to the regional title. That would be a heck of a start for sure. I like their chances against LH because I think they have a better defense than LH and an offense that can match that running machine as well. I honestly think it'll come down to who can get one more stop than the other or who can get a huge turnover at a crucial time. If they can jump on LH early and get a couple stops, it favors them big time.

Are both FB and GP healthy right now? Any major starters out for this game?

Pieper is probably the best team we have played against this year. LH was battling the injury bug early on here they are getting healthy. Both will be tough. Looking at Piepers record the only loss is to Wimbo. I’ve still have one nephew who’s still playing for Wimbo. Of course he’s a Patek and he born in the Yoakum/Shiner area before moving to Wimberley for business. Once again Wimbo is on a solid run and has a date with Carthage in the future.

Why? What screams to you that GP wins this game? The Peanut Butter is better at the Portland HEB? lmao I asked the question because I truly don't know. I've watched both teams play and though I think GP has the better running game, I've no doubt FB is throwing it better. And from what I've seen the defenses seem pretty comparable in ability. I think they are pretty dang even and that is why I went with the home team in the matchup.

Dang 37 hardly threw out that click bait and you bit it Clem. 37 a clever one for sure and he got plenty of time to play that game. Both teams are good, FB passing game is about a notch better than GP”s, but FB has struggled at times against a solid running game. Best thing that GP can do is slow down the tempo with a clock eating grind it out running game with timely short yardage passing. We will see soon enough but neither team can afford many penalties or turnovers which surely can turnaround this game rather quickly.
