So I got offered the new job that I was mentioning a few weeks back...it's almost a $30K per year raise over what I'm making now. I start on the 20th of next month. Oh yeah...it's in Kansas City. And I'm getting married on May 27th to my super cool girlfriend of 2-1/2 years. Yeah...boring week for me.

Congrats on Both.... Kansas City really isn't a bad place to live, I lived in Shawnee Kansas for about 14 years growing up as a kid. I know this is going to be hard for you to stomach, but you will now have to be a KC fan, but I guarantee you will love Arrowhead in the fall. Another great thing about KC in the fall is all the Haunted houses downtown and the lighting of the lights @ Thanksgiving in Country Club Plaza.... Congrats again.
One last thing... Make sure you buy a snowblower before winter.

Congrats X2. A little KC story. Went up to a class and took some guys from S.A. and the RGV with me some years back. We went out to eat at a steak house and they have some mighty fine ones. Well, this one was recommended by some locals as really good. We sit down and the waitress brings over not a bowl of chips and salsa but a bowl of beets. Yep, beets as an appetizer. Them boys from South Texas were not really sure how to act about that. LOL I just told her I don't think we are gonna need those. You should have seen their faces. ;D They were in some serious culture shock up there.

Fantabulous! You will also have to get used to the Kansas City style BBQ. You won't find Mesquite up there. Not sure if Worlds of Fun amusement park is still open these days. You are closer to Omaha to go watch the College World Series. St. Louie down I-75 as well. Good luck in all of your new ventures.

I had driven through KC a couple of times when my sister lived in Minnesota in the late 80's/early 90's, but I didn't spend any appreciable time there until last month when I flew up for my interview. There are a couple of guys I used to work with at my current job that work at the new place and they showed me around the area. I really liked it quite a bit and the people I met were very nice. We took in a Royals game too. It was odd seeing baseball fans tailgating before a regular season game. Oh and my office will be in Mission, which is basically right next door to Shawnee.

Move into Mission Hills and you hang with Tom Watson.

Congrats and good luck. I have some family in Hutchinson KS, west of Wichita. Kansas is ok. Problem is you have to drive thru Oklahoma to get there. That stretch of I35 between OKC and the KS border is ugly.
