State record. He cleared 7'1" and 3/4 Congratulations Bradford Jennings, amazing jump! Wait a few seconds for the video. That's awesome!! Back in the 90's there were 2 guys chasing that record. Same time Amy Acuff set the girls record. I want to say one was Allen Blackman from the Bluff, the other was a kid from Carroll I want to say. They would always get beat either in regionals or State but goodness gracious they could jump into the stratosphere!!!!

I could jump pretty well for a big ol boy but couldn't off of one leg like these great athletes do and it still amazes me how easy they make it look. This kid is special and has a very, very bright future and if he can stay healthy he has a great shot at making the Olympic team. We had a kid in HS a year older than me that was no taller than 5'8" yet he cleared 6'8" in the high jump and could 360 dunk. He couldn't dribble or shoot to save his life but good Lord he could jump out of the gym. lmao

I grew up with Amy Acuff, and she was such an athlete even as a kid. Our Freshman year she played varsity basketball and did track. Then she went straight track, and set the women's high jump record more than once. When she made the Olympic team in '96 it was awesome. I always hoped she'd get a medal, but it never happened for her. Much like you Clem, I had a neighbor that was maybe 5'8", kid could dunk from the free-throw line. He had skills beyond that though... unfortunately his height kept him from going D1. He ended up a PG for TAMUK though.

Any reports on the Spring Game? Coach Steinbruck tweeted simply it was a success. The QB looked great. Good arm. Hopefully he will make it to some camps during the summer. The backup QB has speed and looks more like a fullback. I don't think the coach allowed him to run with the ball but he looks like he can run. Running back (Johnson) looked stronger than last season. He runs so low to the ground it is difficult to gauge his ability. I didn't see big guys on the line (compared to last season) so there is going to be some work there. I know it is was a minimal hitting game with a fun element in there but they looked good.

Here's your chance Sybil. Pack up all your coaching books and head on over for an interview.

Here's your chance Sybil. Pack up all your coaching books and head on over for an interview. I'm tied up with Soft Ball and Baseball at present. Just finished great grand sons Flag Football and baseball. Had Softball awards tonight in Portland. Thursday end of year thing with Hot Dogs in Katy. Son in Law pulling a cooker there. Baseball in Hamilton. Working with Coach Sonny Dykes team attitude problem. His wife is the grand daughter of my History teacher in WF. Coach Joe Golding. This NIL thing is creating a problem for the have not college teams. You may wind up with only 25 teams with a shot at the National championship. I just checked on my thank you note I got from Coach Randy Allen and it was dated 14 Nov. 2022. I have not heard anything since about his retirement. I urged him to finish strong. I went to Baccalaureate service at Sinton HS. Saw some pretty good pitchers in the group. Let me add something that bothers me about the GP AD/HC. Passion for the job is important. His passion for the GP job was coaching near his family while finishing his coaching career. I think it should be about the kids. I may bring that up to DR. Cavasos attention. I want a Coach that has a growth mindset. GP has had a bunch of coaches in the past that are not any better at coaching than they were 10 years ago.

FYI: I would want to be a History teacher and not a Social Studies teacher. There is a difference.
