So the only thing I'm gonna say is if Alice goes 5-5 with that district, they definitely have a right to complain about the new coach.... the worst they should do is 6-4 and that's if West has a good team... if anyone in their district except Calallen beats them, the coach should resign immediately and go coach underwater bowling or something... Alice goes 9-1 at worst in 2023 if a good Coach is hired. I can see 8-2 or 9-1 with the right coach. Flour Bluff is a tough match. Not sure what Vets will bring to the table, but I can see Alice getting over them with the right coaching staff.

A few of us traveled to Port Lavaca for the track meet and we are still here waiting on the mile relay. Damn our guys have some speed! My buddy’s son #3 like I mentioned before is the anchor for the relay teams. One of the teams they’re running against is the Refugio boys today and everybody knows what kind of track program Spiegleman runs there. Campbell anchored that sprint relay but #3 wasn’t far behind, Alice placed 2nd. This was a state champ and fastest kid in the state I feel like. Alice will make a trip to Austin this May. Alice boys placed 1st in the 800m relay. Kory Atwood has also done a fine job with the boys track program, we lose him after the season. What were the 1st & 2nd 4x100 times?

Talked to one of the track parents this morning he said Refugio was 42.8 and Alice time was 43.5. Alice school record is 42.6. The sprint relay team will return 3 of 4 next season.

The Alice boys’ track team was District and Area champs last season and that hadn’t been accomplished since late 80’s early 90’s. They have a good shot at repeating that this year. They also had a great showing at regionals last season.

We won district and every single meet that year with the exception of a meet in San Antonio where we came in 3rd. That was a legit meet with even some Austin area and further North programs. Me myself was just in track to stay in shape and get faster but I competed in 300 hurdles which I never had so I contributed absolutely nothing to us winning meets lol. It was the 1990-1991 school year.

When my boy was a junior/senior they ran the 4x100 in the 43.3-44.5 range consistently. 4x200 best time was a 1:28.8 as a junior... ended up 8th in State out of 9. Covid ended a very promising 2020 track team. Got himself 2 times under 11 seconds before the Covid end, 10.81 at Alice and 10.72 at FB the following meet. Relays were killing it too. I love track season! lol I saw an 8th grade Flour Bluff kid run what supposedly was an 11.06 last night. That's phenomenal as an 8th grader!!

People want names of coaches being considered … What good would it do? There's a reason why school districts don't announce potential hires. No other school district does this! Would you want your current employer to know you applied for another job? Even making that knowledge public?? Not to mention if you put those names out there you likely lose some interest from some coaches who DO NOT want their names out there like that. It is not good for their business so to speak. I know the Alice folks on this board mentioned their former coach who just left putting his application in for several jobs the past few years and how that was a bad look on him with the players, parents, etc.

Last year in 4a it took a time in the 41s to be in the top 5 at state. In 5a it took a time in the 40s to be top 5. Boerne Champion went 42.04 and was dead last in 9th with that time. Refugio won 2a 4x100 last year with a 41.93. I think the sprinter sotex is talking about for them is campbell who anchored that relay and won the 100 himself with a 10.32. Dude can scoot.
