Fantastic! Seems like a great guy and one that may get it going again there.
Hopefully the alumni that have a lot of pull stand squarely behind him and help him get change started. Far too much talent in the South TX, RGV, CB, Victoria, and even SA that could be playing ball there that are not!

Far too much talent in the South TX, RGV, CB, Victoria, and even SA that could be playing ball there that are not! I hope so too. The facilites are so behind compared to all the LSC schools and even some D3 schools like Mary Hardin Baylor for example. You have Class 4A high schools that have better facilties in some areas and certainly some of the lost recruits from one of the larger suburban area schools coming down here saw it is a significant downgrade compared to what they had in high school. Something to address this should have been put in motion 10 years are so ago so it could have been done in phases. But the school had Presidents that gave alot of lip service to the football program while at the same time cut schollies to fund other sports on the women's side. It didn't make sense because at the time, the school actually had a significant increase in enrollment to where more money was coming in that should have gone to those women's program and not cut from what was the lifeblood of the whole athletic program. I'll give you an example of the mindset. Every May, each President of the schools in the A&M system gets a chance to make an in person presentation at the Quarterly Board of Regents meeting in Collie Station for the upcoming budget and short/medium and long term facility/program needs. I watched it on line just to see what the other schools and TAMUK were going to ask from the BOR regents for facility and program needs. The Tarleton and WTAM Presidents get up there and advocate for what their athletic programs need and if you look, they are getting it. TAMUKs now former President? Nothing about the stadium or other sports venues. What was his big request? Increasing the student service fees for E-sports which is now a big thing to throw schollie money at. I wanted to throw my coffee at the monitor.

Not football but it does involve TAMUK, a few years ago my oldest daughter was offered a full scholarship at TAMUK. My daughter and I were invited to go meet the track coaches and view the facilities. Anyone who knows womens track and field knows getting offered a full ride in track is rare and they are usually reserved for very good international athletes. The facilities were ok but what really turned us off was they did not have adequate specialty coaches for field events. Even more of a turn off was they had no vaulting poles for women and my daughter would need to provide her own poles. I’m sure not many of you have purchased any vaulting poles. Over her vaulting career I’ve bought at least 10-12 poles at multiple levels and heights and it’s nothing to spend $300-$400 per pole. She was also offered a partial scholarship at Texas State which is a D1 track program. Much nicer facilities and great coaches in every sport. She selected Tx State and had a great time in that program.

Man it is so sad to see what was once a premier D2 program fall to the joke it is today.... They at one time had more NFL players than most D1 schools, and now they'd be good to field a player that would sit the bench for the XFL or USFL... I remember the tandem of "Smoke and Thunder" in the late 90s early 2000s during their hay days.... I was in class with little Harms and he was telling us that they had submitted to join D1-II and join the Texas State conference at that time. They had been conditionally accepted, then all hell broke loose with the scandal, and all those coaches were terminated.. Their acceptance quickly was denied and they have been decimated ever since.

I was there in the early 90s when at one time the offensive line had five future NFL prospects . Yea there was pushing the envelope stuff going on for sure . Used to be a joke the TDC could open up a satellite probation office there because of the players with background issues were numerous at one time. I think my Freshmen year, the Javs had transfers from OU that were kicked off due to gun/drug/gambling scandal that operated out of the football dorms in Norman. Then a couple of years later they got a stud RB from the Houston area who was a starter in the secondary at Miami that got busted for something big time there. Lol good times! Only team that could get 200 yards in penalties and still win by 42 or more because most of those penalties were for unsportsmanlike stuff. I recall one time they had a 3rd and 50 play and they converted it for a first down. Fun times!

They're recruiting Flour Bluff pretty heavily. Now they've offered for Wyatt Elwood.
