I can see the Big 12 being poached of Tech, Okie State, TCU and Baylor, and maybe BYU to fill the void in the Pac 12
KState, KU and ISU going to Big 10
What's left goes to the ACC (Houston, Cincy, UCF and WVU)
And there you have your Power for conferences of 14-16 teams each for an expanded playoff.
And Texas and OU will not wait around until 2025 to start SEC play. This almost makes that solid.
I just don't see how this helps UCLA and USC in all their other sports like baseball for example.... Yea that's going to be a draw to tell a kid your road trips from sunny Southern Cal in April will be to Michigan and Ohio State where you might very well have a snow delay.

PAC will never take BYU. Their too religious and they don't have tier One research programs. Academics still play big deal in the PAC.
Tech, Baylor, OKSt don't move the TV ratings enough. TCU maybe cause there in the DFW market.
This might be a deal to shake up the new PAC commish to get a new/better TV deal.

It looks like the PAC 12 might be in more danger of being a goner than the BIg 12. Speculation is Colorado, Arizona, Arizona Stafe and Utah might end up in the BIG 12. While Oregon, Stanford, Washington and Cal go Big 10. Where does Oregon State and Washington State go? Mountain West?

Just my opinion but I see either the Pac 12 or Big 12 either folding as a conference or dropping from the power 5 at least.

It seams the SEC and Big10 are trying to form super conferences. 16-20 teams each.
I can see this as them either leaving the NCAA to create their own league or at least leveling up for a new elite division of 40 teams.
We could have five separate football divisions. Super division (40 teams Big 10, SEC) FBS. (PAC, Big 12 and so on) FCS (the north Dakota st of the world) D2 D3
This could creates some parity in the leagues giving more school an opportunity at post season success.
Currently there are 124 FBS teams and about 10 have a shot at the playoffs each season.

BIG ain't done, but it will be an arms race between B1G and SEC. The other three P5's just became the minor leagues or NIT 2.0. Wouldn't be shocked if B1G/SEC expand to 20-24 teams and break away from NCAA.

SEC looking for football schools and B1G looking for AAU (American Association of Universities) and R1's (Highly active research universities). SEC looking at 100 million + tv contracts and B1G looking at 1 billion-plus research grants, plus 100 million + tv contracts. BIG will add teams that on the surface level don't make sense. Washington, Boston University, Georgia Tech, Stanford, etc... what they lose in TV revenue will be multiplied in R1 Federal and Corporate research grant money. SEC's advantage is that they have a leader running the SEC, the B1G has a moron that can't get out of his own way. Kevin Warren (B1G commissioner) was in London when USC/UCLA joined BIG and is in the Caribbean right now... www.aau.edu/who-we-are/our-membersen.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_research_universities_in_the_United_States

Wow If that happed and they did come to the SEC......WOW At this point, If you are not in the Big10 or SEC then you are rumored to be looking to join. I don't think the SEC would go after two more Florida schools. I can see the going Clemson, UNC, FSU, and then Virginia. UVA has high AAU ratings and you get in the DC metro area.

I see your point but Florida, Florida State and Miami in a 4 team pod would be a lot of fun to watch every year. Maybe Georgia. And those three all in the SEC might keep more Florida Kids In state.
