This will likely change as things get really crazy later. TT should get better as Texas is leaving the Big 12. Lots of changes coming. This transfer portal really is messing up college football imo. If you are talking about the recruiting class rankings for 2023 college football.....I guarantee you it will change. TT will not be anywhere near the top when it is all said and done and neither will ND.

Tech is also getting former Calallen Linemen Ty Buchanan who is transferring from USC to Tech next fall. Tech really screwed themselves when they let Leach go due to wanting to be on Craig James good side in case he won that Senate race which he came in last in the GOP primary. McGuire is a good hire... On the face of it, they look like they are following the UTSA model as he has the same mindset and respect with the Texas football world as Traylor .

Leach was ahead of everyone with the pass happy stuff. Had Tech not F'ed up and fired him and he was still at Tech when the pass happy stuff started becoming more popular I think Leach would have continued to gain more credibility and popularity and been able to get top recruiting classes. Tech could have been a consistent top 10 team after a few more years if they hadn't gotten rid of Leach.

The pass happy era is also exposing even more the SEC bias. Back when it was only the Big XII all we heard was the QBs were all just "system QBs". Now that even the Alabama's of the world are pass happy it's all of a sudden respected lmfao. Meanwhile Texas Tech put one of the greatest ever in the NFL and all of Bama's QBs are busts in the NFL.

That's why he had losing records against Texas and OU because they would go ahead and cede 40 points to Tech because they would end up scoring 60.

Who ever argued that TT's offenses under Leach were NOT great? Offense was never Leach or TT's problem.......the lack of defense is what still kept them down and why they got their azz kicked by UT and OU every year. The SEC wins NOT because of the offenses they run. They win because they are bigger, stronger, and faster than everyone else and most play damn good defense. Did you watch Georgia play any this year?

This is what you guys do, you cherry pick. Georgia had a good defense this season out of the SEC... WHO ELSE? Exactly. It's an old bogus narrative that continues to get pushed about the SEC and defense. Back years ago when lots of your D's weren't getting steamrolled and you got that rep it was because most of your offenses were clock killing run offenses. Any D is gonna have good numbers playing against that type of O all season.

And you're missing the point. As Leach would have gained more respect and popularity he maybe would have been able to get better recruits. He didn't ignore D. He just knew at a program like Tech at that time you had to not be so picky.

Getting humbled is easy when you don't respect the opposition. Question: When was the last time UT won the Big 12?

Mike Leach went in there year 1 and in the first game against defending national champs LSU his QB broke the SEC passing record immediately.. .with his spread offense that you guys always claimed wouldn't work in the SEC. I don't hate the SEC. I hate the horsecrap narratives pushed by eSECpn.

Great defense beats great offense the same as great pitching beats great hitting.

This isn't the "dEfEnSe WiNs ChAmPiOnShIpS" argument this is about the complete exaggeration of the SEC defenses by eSECpn.

We have so many more 7-5 type world series games than we do 1-0 type games. Get over those old stereotypes that came to fruition at a time when everyone was running clock killing run based offenses thus giving us all low scores. This isn't the 60's. There's high school teams today better than college elites from that era.
