Let me remind you how this entire conversation started. You posted on your STBS page that "Miller has stepped it up and scheduled teams like Waco La Vega and El Campo. Why is Miller the only program with the ๐ ๐ to do this? When are other local programs going to step up and play beast programs from up North of San Antonio?" That is a direct quote from your post that started this conversation. You then asked for input from other schools on the subject. So Calallen fans gave our opinion which you then said we "made it about us" after you asked for opinions. All I'm asking is how is Miller scheduling another 4A program that goes 2-3 rounds deep each season (to include a 3-7 season only a few years ago) so much more ballsy than when Calallen scheduled 6A San Antonio Johnson a few years ago? This all started because of your claim that Miller has the ๐๐ to schedule beast opponents. Who are they? And how do you know who Danaher or Campbell has called over the years to play "who's schedule was already filled" like Evan's claimed with South Oak Cliff? The point is that you don't know and we don't either. Even when we've tried to share who we've played as a quality opponent you claim that it had nothing to do with us seeking it out. How the hell do you know that either? I find it highly amusing that you basically call us liars all day long but will believe Evans called South Oak Cliff and their schedule was full. Well Danaher called College Station and their schedule was full too. Evans isn't my source. Try harder. You're all still deflecting. YOU chose a JV team from Mexico over legit options. Nothing you cherry pick will take away that fact. And nobody said Miller or Vets had tougher schedules. You're all creating nonsense arguments to get away from my original point and now the Mexico point. Are you kidding me? Your post seriously said Miller had the ๐๐ to schedule beast programs that no one else does and then you named El Campo in that list of beasts. I quoted it word for word above. You are the one deflecting and you know it. And honestly - no one gives a rats a$$ what you think about the decision not to play Ryan. There's not a local team around that would play Ryan and you know it. You are the only one making an issue about it. It was either play the team from Mexico that Aledo and Katy has also played before or have an open week after all the other schools we sought out turned us down.

I give up on this stupid argument. Campbell called Sinton, Lampasas, Victoria East and West and none would play week 2. Everyone on here is in agreement that playing Ryan wouldn't have been a good move. Not sure how that equates to us deflecting or sniffing our own farts or thinking we're perfection. But the other schools he called wouldn't play us so we're left with who's on our schedule. I'm personally happy with the rivalry games with GP and FB and Cuero is a solid opponent as well. It's obvious who's deflecting on this one after sniffing up Miller's ๐๐ about their bada$$ schedule. Never said those weren't good opponents. They aren't up North talent. You know football enough to get it. I'm still waiting on 1 Calallen fan to tell me the chance you took in scheduling over the winning era. You can't name even 1 program. Wouldn't matter. We've named 6A schools where we could be competitive and that didn't matter. We could tell you we tried to schedule Westlake and they saw no benefit in playing a school two levels down but you'd say we were lying anyway.

Yes "taking a chance" is scheduling opponents that could whoop you. When has Calallen ever scheduled an opponent that could have "whooped them"?. Name 1. You want to make it all about Ryan because you know people won't blame you for not playing them but there was other programs you could have scheduled that aren't JV teams from Mexico. All any of you had to do was say, "I'm disappointed in the choice to play Mexico", and I would have given the honesty respect and shut my mouth. But no, instead you want to keep with the excuses.

We are not claiming the team from CDMX is anything but who they are. They are not Judson Mexico City or someone like that. This site still has our historical records and their are several years we played teams in non district where we were underdogs or not necessarily overwhelming favorites.

I get what you're saying but it's still wrong. You put your personal feeling aside to make your team better. Is playing a pushover from another country gonna make your team better than if you played Miller or Vets?. Then when you look at how good Miller and Vets are gonna be this season with all the players they return then it looks like the easy way out was taken by your coach. I understand your players got in a fight in a recent 7 on 7 but the schedule was made long before that. edit: I have no idea what Vets has coming back. Miller returns everyone though. If Calallen was playing GP and then the Mexico team followed by Robstown and Bishop ( or whatever other team in the area that has been down more than up), then yes it would look like the easy way out. Kind of like an unnamed SEC team does this with their current schedules to make them look good on the stats sheet when they don't do chit in SEC play other than a signature win here and there and get some T-shirts printed from it.... Anyhow, it's not like Cal is following up this game with those types teams, but instead Flour Bluff and Cuero which should be as good if not better than Miller and/or Vets. At least traditionally they both are. So here we go again with your BS Pico! Want me to show you their record in the SEC and your T-Sippers record in that powerful big 12 the last decade! Why don't you drop it already at least until your team can beat Kansas at home again.

Make sense or not Ryan challenged you when they saw you needed a game. Maybe they were also desperate and couldn't find anything. I have no idea what their thinking was but the challenge was made. Regardless you are Calallen and there's no way you had to settle for a pushover team from Mexico. A choice was made. I do not fault Calallen for NOT taking that game. It would have done absolutely NO GOOD for either team IMO. Not turning down CCVM or Miller would be a different story but I don't believe that is the case.

Regardless you are Calallen and there's no way you had to settle for a pushover team from Mexico. A choice was made. Yes, Calallen needs to play a better team than the one from Mexico. Yes, Calallen needs better non-district competition. (We've been a little better lately, but a lot of that has to do with COVID scheduling). Yes, Calallen should have played Miller or Vets if they had the chance. No, Calallen should not play Denton Ryan. I 100% would have turned down Denton Ryan too. Calallen gets absolutely nothing out of it. If we play Stephenville, or Liberty Hill, or someone like that and lose 35-14, then we know what we need to work on. "Oh, they ran it down our throats", "Oh, our secondary got shredded", etc. But the Denton Ryan game wouldn't be competitive. They are a whole different animal right now. We'd walk away with a 49-12 loss and probably a RB or two who were injured. Campbell has to look out for what is best for his team, and playing Denton Ryan is not best for Calallen. Playing the team from Mexico sucks, but at least its reps with a lower chance of injury. Sorry but I don't think that score is even close unless Ryan pulled starters very early in the 2nd half. You know I have a ton of respect for Calallen and always have but I'm being real. Calallen has not even won region their first 2 years in 4aD1 and it isn't because they lost close games to the eventual state champion. I'm not saying Calallen is broke in any way I'm just saying the last couple seasons have not been even close to top 10 years for the Cats.

All I said is that I don't think playing Ryan was a great decision either. This was our only choice at this point. Ryan or the team from Mexico City. Lampasas, Sinton, Vic East and West, Blanco all said no. Others didn't match up to that week. It is what it is and we'll play them. You always turn something about nothing and what you THINK we're implying into a big deal.

I guess I'm not understanding how Miller's non-district schedule is so bada$$. Because Evans "claims" he called South Oak Cliff? El Campo is a good 4A program with an outstanding back but are they a dominating powerhouse? No. They were 3-7 just 4 years ago and then 9-2 the year after. How does scheduling another 4A team that goes about 2-3 rounds deep a season equate to being such a ballsy scheduling move? Is New Braunfels Canyon a dominating powerhouse? No. Calallen has played them numerous times over the years and they were 4-6 and 0-10 just 2-3 years ago. Isn't Alice on their non-district schedule? Or is it Rockport who's a good local program? Who am I missing that is making this argument about Miller's schedule being so far superior compared to everyone else's because surely it's not based on Evan's claims of who he "called to play". Please tell me if I'm missing someone off the charts amazing on their schedule because as of now I don't see it. Campbell called Lampasas at least 5 times trying to get them to play week 2 and they wouldn't and last I heard they still don't have a week 2 game. Lampasas is a good 4A contender like El Campo. They didn't want to play because their coach said they might see us post-season and we are scrimmaging Vets. It just didn't work out to play non- district based on schedules. Some good points here And the one about Evans calling SOC is suspect. If he did, he is out of his mind if he thinks the team he has is at that level or even close to it. SOC would donkey stomp Miller into the ground and laugh while doing it. SMDH Miller has had one run at a regional title and couldn't win that with the best offense in the state that year and still had 5 losses in that season! SOC would light them up.

I was at a 7 on 7 yesterday and saw CC Veterans, CC Miller, Calallen and Rockport. All programs looked good and had talent. Take it for what it's worth but Miller had more offensive weapons than any of the years I was roaming their sidelines. All I'm saying is seeing what they had on the field yesterday I understand why someone would feel comfortable challenging teams up North.

Off the top of my head in recent years I know of La Vega just a couple years ago Calallen is an equal program most seasons to La Vega. That was not, "taking a risk" and wasn't that one of the covid made games anyway?.

Excuses excuses excuses. Admit it was weak to turn down legit opponents at least without having a backup plan that didn't include playing a team you're gonna beat 63-0. Any other fanbase in here would admit as much about their programs. Only the, "we sniff our own farts", fanbase won't.

If Miller could just put more into their defense and special teams I can see them winning the region. Too bad they didn't get one more year in 4aD1.
