Since Colton is just a junior his lil brotjer will be good on JV. But your right he is impressive to watch so they still have next year to play together. He might be on Varsity?

I have no doubt he has the talent to be on varsity but receiver is one position that GP has multiple options. Besides he will have plenty of chances to play on varsity in the playoffs.

It could go either way with Ryder, he has the size and speed to compete at the varsity level. It’s up to Davis to decide if he should spend his freshman year sub varsity just to get more snaps and to get more experience. I’m not a huge fan of freshmen on varsity, unless they are the clear cut starter at their position. If there’s a better choice that’s 10th-12th grade, I’d keep the freshman on the freshman team… allow him to feel great success, and also bond with his classmates. After all, in 3 years all those freshmen will be seniors on the field together. Steele has had multiple freshman play varsity from day 1 including 3 kids that were in my sons class as well as Malcom Brown who is still in the league and another RB that helped us win a title in 2010 named Justin Stockton. If a kid is ready and can get significant playing time I say move him up. He doesn't need to be a starter to move him up just so that he is on the field a lot and gets those reps. Come on man, who cares about freshman ball other than the parents in the stands. Let the kid play if he is ready

Then find another place to put him if he is ready and as talented as you say. GP doesn't have 3-star kids all over the field at the skill spots so get him out there and playing whether it is as a starter or coming off the bench. Hell, at WR it is always great to have 4-5 kids equally talented that can move in and out as the game goes along.

If the kid is a stud the coaches should find a way to get him on the field. I saw Steve Johnson line up at TE, WR, LB, Safety and all over on special teams as a freshman. Settled in at FB as a Soph but still played a good bit at LB when needed his JR And SR years. Why can't this kid do the same?

If he is ready and is a stud, you get him on the field somewhere even if it is NOT the position he will end up at his Jr & Sr years! Mike Jinks was masterful at this. Many, MANY of the studs that came through Steele would play a totally different spot their sophomore year than the would the last 2....even on the opposite side of the ball as a sophomore. When they are that talented you get them on the field wherever!

I saw some Vault Barn video of Colton vaulting yesterday getting ready for the Nationals.Colton has really bulked up over the last year and it’s unusual to see a dude that big clearing 16 ft in the vault with a 14-9” pole. It’s really impressive to watch the video. If inquiring minds want to see it go to Facebook and punch up Vault Barn. There’s plenty video of many good vaulters.
