I wouldn't count on it. He has a chance to make 5-star before it is over with but you never know. The two brothers are very close. A&M kingsville just got the steal of the year IMO. Good kid and one hell of a player.

Good kid and one hell of a player. As an Alum of Texas A&I, I saw this and thought to myself what in the world? I've been pretty down on the program because of the lack of leadership at the Administrative level to improve facilities and the such which I would bet my bottom dollar was effecting recruiting over the last decade or so. The last thing I was expecting was them getting a headline attention signee. I thought for sure the attention little brother received especially during the playoff run with Sark and other Big Boy school coaches in attendance would translate in Doug getting some offers to mid majors at the very least to your programs that are not Power 5 in Texas. Maybe a UTSA, Texas State, Sammy? ?

Little brother Dalton Brooks has offers from Alabama and LSU and UT Longhorns and has a cousin who is a Longhorn but he is close with big brother Doug and this might get interesting.

Maybe a UTSA, Texas State, Sammy? ? Yes, it is surprising for sure but then again, maybe not. He is without a doubt one of the best athletes I've ever watched but he is one of those 'in between guys' that just doesn't fit a certain mold that these big power 5 teams look for. Stupid as hell IMO, but it is how it is. If he was 220 instead of 280 they'd be all over him as a RB recruit. If he was 6'2" instead of 5'10" they'd be all over him for a DT and he'd be headed to UT, A&M, AL, Georgia, or wherever he wanted to play. I just don't get it at all but if these kids don't fit their 'ideal mold' for a position they do get overlooked no matter how great they play. My son played with 2 kids that fit this and although both played on saturdays they played at schools that basically 'stole' them because if either had been 2"-3" taller they'd have had full rides to top 5 programs.

He holds offers from 22 schools right now and is 4 star and I think will jump to a 5 star with a good, injury free year. Very true with the last statement. Thinking back to a particular Linebacker who played his High School ball back in the 90's from Rockport and won the Lombardi Award for a great career playing LB at Texas A&M. Ended up making a good living playing for the Dallas Cowboys too. Undersized.... Didn't come from a population group that was known from it's football and still doesn't in large part today.. Why coaches don't roll the dice more often with the kids that don't fit the "ideal mold" is mindboggling Once upon a time from the 60's to the early 2000's, Texas A&I/ TAMUK used to fill their rosters on both sides of the ball with these types. Three of them are in the NFL HOF today. Several others made national headlines both in their college and pro days..... And most passed up by the UT's, A&M's, even schools in their own backyard like the U of H... Again... Didn't fit the mold. A lot of that was simply old school coaching the Javelinas had back then which relied on gut instinct. Kind of like an old school weatherman who is now retired and living off the grid who can probably get the weather forecast right more than some of the newbies who live and die by every computer model.

Of course the Brooks brothers, but that RB out of El Campo is getting some serious kudos from D-1 schools. Jayden Jones out Yoakum is also going to have a great year.
