Cedar Park is scrimmaging Westlake this evening! This young CP team better strap on those chin straps tight and represent; as this Westlake team will be at home and want to show everyone they are a force again this year!
I hope Coach Q will have them ready to make a statement of their own!
Go TWolves!

Really interested to know how the scrimmage went, I officially know no one on the Cedar Park team anymore which is weird after all of the years of being in touch with the program. Sounds like we have a converted Linebacker as a QB this year. Excited to see how things go in Q’s second year at the helm and hope to see improvement from last year, Go Twolves

How did the scrimmage go? I haven’t heard much as I’m currently down for the count and quarantining with Covid since last Friday. It’s like a very bad Head & Chest cold that makes you very tired. Anyway, I heard we held our own from someone who talked to one of the OL, but didn’t get any details from Friday’s scrimmage. The AAS says Westlake is ranked as the #1 team in the Nation, but not sure how; since they graduated a ton and Dodge retired! Anyway, CP is very young this year with only 56 players on varsity of which 26 are seniors. Of those 26 not all are starters! There are over 200 out for football in all four grades! One bright spot I’ve heard is CP’s Linebackers will be back on par to what they’ve had in the past! Should be an interesting season!!

I looked at the TWolves game again… it was difficult to say the least.
I saw a very vanilla offense… no motion and no misdirection plays. I was hoping for a better scheme out of the gate. I’m hopeful that this week the OC will open the playbook a little!
The Defense needs to tackle better and take better angles when pursuing! The defense held for only one score in the second half which is good but the damage of 27 first half points was already done! Scoring 14 points in the second half was good, but not having scored in the first half was something CP couldn’t come back from when engaged with a team the caliber of RR Cedar Ridge.
Coaching adjustments at halftime were accomplished, but they must better prepared for teams in the future. First games are difficult as with all non-district games when a team is playing strong competition like CP does!
RR Cedar Ridge definitely will be a playoff team in 6a Region IV D25. Additionally, Vandegrift and Round Rock, both of 6a D25 are up next for Cedar Park and both will also make the playoffs this year!
Time will tell if this year’s TWolves will be able to make their own successful mark on CP’s program! Until that time, they’ll have to line up and get after it!
Go TWolves!!

Go TWolves!! CP has always done a nice job scheduling their Non District games. It's obvious they are not too concerned with the w/l record and are more concerned with getting ready for District and potential deep playoff runs. They don't play down a lot but when they did it was someone like Aledo. A State Ranked program with a winning culture. One of the reasons I find CP easy to root for.

After the game Friday I took a couple days to kind of think about what the 2022 CP team could be, a lot of young guys are playing, Coach is in his second year and the offense hasn’t changed a lot from last year when it was borderline stagnant all year. The best I could come up with is the 2022 Timberwolves will be a Process, I’m glad we scheduled some good teams for non district but at the same time this team really needs a W to prove to themselves they can win. The coaches need to preach to our QB this week to let the ball go and don’t try to run it just because the open pass isn’t there the first time, they also need to tell him that if he is going to run to just run, he’s a big kid and would do better running straight at people instead of trying to make moves. Our running backs need to stop trying to juke before they hit the holes that the O-Line is providing because there are holes they just arent staying open for long with these bigger D-Line players. As Twolvesfan stated we have to get stops early in games and not let up the big play, missed tackles last week put us down big early and pretty much turned the lights out very early in the game. These boys will have to realize as do us fans that the scheme probably won’t change which means our players will just have to perfect the scheme through the year. The 2022 Timberwolves will be a Process of figuring out how to win and how to make the best out of what they are given. I will always believe that if there is time on the clock the Boys can pull it off. Look forward to watching the growth, GO TWOLVES!

They are going to take their lumps and get their mettle tested this season. They need confidence and swagger. This is a young team and they have to get cocky with the seniors they will face. Our QB has to rely on the pocket until he is proven wrong. We have a very age-diverse line that can only get better. There are holes and the RBs need to hit them correctly straight out of the gate.
As far as defense, I don't know what to say. The architects of Black Rain are running the defense. The men who put our defense on the map are at the helm, why are we not seeing the defense of old?
Is a change in the community? Is it a change in the culture? Why are not these boys salivating at a potential hit and decleating anyone on the field?
If you watch my son and his teammates play, you will see old school, hard hitting no water breaks football. Not kidding. The offense had tents and misting fans during practice for breaks while my son, and all else who wore black, stayed out and hit and hit and hit. Sounds irresponsible and dangerous but that was what the defense had to endure. They were taught to be tough. They were taught, that when in doubt HIT!
I hope we see that old school, punch in the mouth, lay someone out, type of defense we are used to from our boys or it will be a long season. I think they can do it.

This is exactly what set CP apart from the rest in their best years. Just a nasty defense that would GATA every play!!! Even those teams that lost tough, close games to the championship LT teams were straight up nasty defensively.
